The fitness of this team has gone down the shitter since Torts left.
Take off the pads and guys like Laff, Chytil, Fox, Zbad look like they never saw a gym.
This isn't the 70's.
Take a look at Jordan Staal in post game interviews. That is a professional athlete who prepares himself for the rigors of the NHL in 2023. Guys like Chara and MacKinnon would never allow their teammates to get away with this.
Hopefully, Laviolette and the new coaching staff whip this charmin soft crew into shape.
Cannot love this post enough.

Modern players are not blinky but they are often cut and defined. Most of the players on this team look like teenagers with their shirts off so it's no wonder they struggle in one on one battles.

5-10 145 is pretty impressive for a 61 year old. Im 183 but trying to lose at least another 10-14
Yeah when you get up over 45, it becomes harder to drop it. Much better off getting a healthy weight and maintaining it.

I gained too much weight from 2021-2022. Some call it Covid weight but it had nothing to do with Covid. Had to do with over indulging on pizza, french fries, and ice cream. I don't make excuses. I enjoyed them lol. :D

I buck all conventional wisdom, exercise is infinitely more important than diet. The “science” on nutrition changes every year, back in the day you were supposed to mainly eat bread, then fat was bad, then fat was good, eat a lot of small meals, binge eating is bad, now intermittent fasting is good and you should eat all in one sitting, red meat was bad, now the biggest health trend is eating nothing but red meat. All these scientists were nerds who were bullied by jocks in high school so they hate sports and fitness. Exercise is natures anti-depressant and it’s way more fun to work out and play sports than it is to count every calorie and deprive yourself of foods you enjoy (which will probably be considered healthy in 20 years anyway because these scientists don’t know wtf they’re talking about)

Not in the states, pal. Hahaha. And especially the second part of your statement if it's Jan or Feb...
Before lockdowns I went to the US every couple weeks even just for groceries, gas, etc. I've spent a ton of time in the US, it is absolutely true. The difference between the average person and the average person in McDonalds is way less significant than the difference between the average person and the average person at the gym or on a sports team. Average person in a McDonalds is a bit fatter than the average person you'd see anywhere else, but people you'll see in a gym are significantly leaner than the average person you'd see anywhere else.

For instance whenever I go play hockey, I'm seeing like 15 guys on my team, 15 on the other team; the team thats on before us and the team thats on after us. So I see nearly 100 hockey players on any given day at the rink, most of them eat pizza, fast food etc all the time and are drinking beers after the game. But I barely see any fat people, and even the people who are chubby have quite some muscle mass as well and a much better level of fitness. You won't see a single morbidly obese person.

It's a fact that the science around nutrition changes like the wind, and the world has never been so sedentary. I just think it's much better for you both physically and mentally to work out a lot more and be far less sedentary, than it is to restrict yourself from enjoying your favorite foods. I'm a kook though, I have many opinions that are far outside the bounds of prevailing orthodoxy. Don't get me started on the myth of sun exposure being bad for you

I've lived in the US my entire life. Specifically the NYC area, and I assure you that is not the case HERE. Hahahaha.

Coming from the guy who eats Pizza Hut every night! (I actually agree with you that an active lifestyle and exercise is more important than what you eat, even "healthy" food is barely food at this point)

New York isn't a very obese state, comparable to here in BC. Do you go to the gym often? I don't see how that is possible man. You see normal weight people eating out, fast food, pizza, etc all the time. I can't even comprehend how you'd think there's a bigger gap between the average person at McDonalds and the average person, than there is between the average person and the average person in the gym or on a sports team. Go take pics at the gym and McDonalds pls lol

Ahahahaha. Yeah I'm going to take creep shots of strangers for a mild message board disagreement. I'm just giving you some info. Do with it what you will. This isn't important to me.

Correlation != Causation

People in the gym are already in a subset of the population that obviously care about physical fitness. Saying the gym caused them to be physically fit is a statistical bias.

If Vally is publicly calling him out... the message had to be sent to him from the org.

He needs to move to RW too. Having some form of structure will help.

I wouldn't mind starting with Panarin Zibs Laffy. NO EXCUSES left.

I hope Laffy reaches his max potential as a 80+ pt playmaking power forward

You want to get him killed? lol Taking pics at the gym?

Since we're on the subject: there needs to be a law on every municipality level (Local, city, state, federal, God given, chaos arisen) where a female with a killer bod - thighs that can bend steel, ass that's thicker than a bowl of oatmeal - but has a face that not even the combined minds of John Carpenter and Wes Craven high on LSD could come up with, should be banned from working out in public.

Asphyxiation doesn't mess around with a man's blood flow as much as these women when they turn their backs to you, face you, back again, face, back....

There are so many benefits to playing on your off wing on offense. I have always wished Laf could figure that out. I'm a right handed shot that only wants to play LW. I guess some people would call me like Panarin in that regard. I would not say that but that is because I'm very humble. :D

It’s straight up depressing that the player discussion thread for our first 1OA ever is about how fat and lazy the kid is just three years into his career.
I have never seen a picture of him without equipment on so I can not say he is fat. I just want him to get in top condition to give himself and us a better chance.

Ive always prefered it too, not everyone can get comfortable in their own end with it though. It just gives you so many more options for shooting, your stick is in the center of the ice in a better shooting position instead of towards the wall, and ive always like that you could cut center and either shoot or fake the shot and go outside.
