Wow, Romanov I saw him has the good young #3-4. Dach is good but didn’t have the progression that we expected… I would have waited to to who was available at 13th… Lot of pressure on Dach, to make this trade work…

Well, after watching the difference between Caufield with Ducharme and MSL, maybe Dach can be fixed. Chicago is shit, but Dach did look good before his hand injury.

He could work really well with Caufield, playmaking center that can't shoot, good at protecting the puck.

Or did they trade for Dach to have a big boy line with Dach, Slaf and Anderson, or possibly trade to replace Anderson with Kakko and have a potentially monster of a line to play against in the future.

Slaf pick is so interesting.

Dach trade too.

Lots of people quick to write off a 21yr old 6ft4 C who was drafted 3rd overall just 2-3yrs ago, and had an amazing rookie season.

Interesting.
Couturier and Hertl took until 25 years old to break out offensively...
Let's hope Dach is also a late bloomer...

Romanov is freaking 22 not 28. Do you have any idea how it works a rebuild? you trade the vets not the kids and you don't trade a kid who was on the rise for a kid that struggled for 3 years straight.
Dude, you have to give to get.

Like I've already stated based on ceiling, this deal is in MTLs favor. Is there risk? Definitely but otherwise a guy like Dach simply wouldn't have been available.

Guhle, Barron, Harris are in their D+2/3 so they're ready to make that step very soon.

I have to wonder how much the cap situation is at play in a trade like this. Habs are still in cap hell and it's not easy to move the less desirable contracts out to make the space necessary to resign Romanov. It sucks to lose Romanov, but there was a risk of another team going the offer sheet route with very little the Habs could do. Still, getting Dach at the end of all this is a little underwhelming. Hopefully, the change of scenery helps him realize his draft potential (or at least have him cement himself in the top 6).

Don’t mind the Romanov trade, it’s not like if his potential was that high and getting 13th was interesting but trading it for Dach after man..

Big Canadian kid too.... tbh I like it a lot.

I like the direction they are going.

Big and can skate.

Romanov was on an upward trajectory. I'm not against losing a player of last season's stature. It's future Romanov that concerns me.

We'll see what that is versus Dach's...

Hopefully it isn't McDonagh for Gomez or Sergachev for Drouin all over again...
This. The sting was just refreshed. Again.

I doubt that Romanov has such a high ceiling, nor that Dach’s is as low as Gomez. Dach had a career season, and his future is about the same or less. Dach has some skill, and in the right environment should have more to give.

Do you realize that the thing we gave , is better than the think we got? That's not a risk. It's an error.

Romanov for 13th was great, I like him but his ceiling is 2nd pair and we have a few players with that ceiling. Glad Hughes is trading from a position of strength

Haven’t seen much of Dach, hope he just had a bad year and is 100% healthy, he definitely has a great size/speed combo

Obvious, he would have kept the pick. Dach real high gamble.

I see Dach and Slaf more as long term projects. Romanov was established - and is older than both (further along in his development). I think Dach for Romanov has a higher probability of helping the tank. But we'll see.

I dont know Dach a lot tbh. Seems some ppl think his potential is still huge and others are the opposite. I guess we'll see

What i do know is i had not been impressed by Romanov so far. Im fine moving on. I just hope Dach ends up good
