I guess they like Guhle, Harris, Xhekaj, Strubble, Norlinder, and Fairbrother on the left side?

Man without Romanov all of a sudden we don't look as deep...

He likes size and skating... Hopefully also hockey sense and high offensive IQ. I really hope we don't have a second consecutive GM that doesn't adequately value offensive IQ.
Dach is not that great of a skater

Somewhere on earth in a hospital
1) Who cares about the D being worse next year. Edmundson is still here btw.

2) Who are you BSing with your 3rd line C comment? Don't pretend you're an expert on Dach.

I'm very on the fence on this deal. Dach was trending upward before this season and his injuries. Chicago was also a total gongshow this year. He's never had a solid coach for his development.

I am sad about Romanov leaving since I liked his progression this year BUT I don't see him as more than a #3D. We got fair value for him since I value a potential 2C over a #3D. We also have Guhle who might make us forget about Romanov soon. Let's not overlook the Russian factor too.

Hughes talked about different ways to accelerate the rebuild. Passing up on Wright was tough for me to accept but this deal gets us a C prospect much ahead in development.
1- Who cares? Edmundson is not a top 4 d-man when are you all gonna learn lmfao. He's a third pair d-man. My god people overrate players. Dude had a fluke season in a canadian division , give me a break

2-Not everyone only look at a team when they watch hockey. Dach has been absolutely abysmal for 3 years in Chicago. He struggle to make any plays to open the ice for his wingers. He's also been injured at the wrist.

Yet u say Romanov couldnt be more than #3 which the only d-man we have as a top 3 is Petry who is probably leaving.

Dach will end up as a 3rd line center. No way he breaks 40 points even with good centers.

It's a terrible trade , the plan is to rebuild and yet all the awful veterans are still there.

I'd rather Dach over Romanov, but 13 feels expensive for him. The injury concerns and lack of production is definitely concerning.

think the website ate my post in the draft thread but guess ill post it here.

a year ago people were saying Dach should have gone 1st OA over Hughes because of his great play in the Chicago Blackhawks playoff series in 2020. Yes he fizzled a bit this year but obviously he has the potential to hit that high he had in his rookie year.

Slaf/Suzuki/Caufield
???/Dach/Anderson
???/Dvorak/???

That 2nd line looks like a good forechecking line and if the Habs end up getting a goal scoring LW at 26 or 32 OA then that line will be dangerous.

I don't think you should be disappointed Habs fans. :thumbu:

Real bummer to see him go, especially with such a small return in Dach.
It’s now pretty safe to say that the Habs are ok getting 3 kids at the blue line next season. Harris, Ghule and Barron have just locked in their spots on the roster.

I love Romanov but i doubt he's more than a #4. Trading him for a young middle 6 center with size who is already good defensively is a good bet. You won't get an actual top 6 center for Romy.
I also don't think Romanov is a top pairing guy or even a #3.

HuGo are walking into next season on thin ice at the moment though. Dach also doesn't have a contract for next season so doesn't help our cap situation and he's certainly trending towards bustville.

Fingers crossed Dach can have a breakout season under Ducharme, if both Slaf and Dach pan out and become big talented forwards then watch out.

Orrrrrr we could end up icing a bunch of McCaron's:laugh:
