The sheer hatred of this man on the main board is shocking.
The nice thing is we don’t give one single f*** what anyone else has to say. When all is said and done with Ovi, Washington will have been a contender playing playoff hockey for essentially twenty straight years, he’ll have won the franchise’s first (and maybe but hopefully not only) Stanley Cup, he may have overtaken Gretzky and beaten a record long thought to be unbreakable, he’ll have rewritten a ton of the offensive record books besides Gretzky's record, etc etc.

There’s nothing anyone can say or do to take away Ovechkin’s status as a certified legend and the GOAT when it comes to goal scoring, and we’ll have gotten to witness it for our favorite team for twenty years. There’s no pissing in our Cheerios from any of the haters, nothing anyone can say will take away how much fun it’s been to have Ovi on this team.

I saw that article. Why don't we count goals in pickup games and high school, etc? All. Time. NHL. Goals. Scored. It's not difficult but the Gretzky disciples (in particular) will do just about anything to disparage what Alex is doing in today's league. I hear what they're saying but it's not how the records work.

And you guys "shouldn't care, one iota". First off, Congrats Ovie! The old saying, haters gonna hate. Beings a Rangers fan, I only appreciate fans of other teams comments, when they have something legit to say. You can have your opinion, but when you bash for no reason, well then.....that's when I know you are a hater.
For ANYONE to mistakenly compare Ovie to Crosby and say one or the other is "better", I mean.....does it really matter? I personally have always liked Ovie, especially in his younger years when he would get really physical, but eventually realized he had better "step it down a notch" if he wanted this longevity. Smart.

If MY Rangers had one such player named "Ovie" we may have won 3 cups when King Henrik was guarding the nets. Wish we did. Anyway, happy that Ovie finally did get his ring and FWIW he IS a great player, and trust me, you will miss him in about 3 years when he finally hangs em' up for good. Cherish the time.
Just hoping that everyone appreciates Backstrom nearly as much. What a duo they have been. Well, good luck to your team, and wouldn't mind one more PO match up, just for old times sake, some how, some way.
Well, enjoy tonight's game, I know I will.......been itching for one.

Hank was always the one non-Capital I wanted to see win the Cup. He was one of my favorite players for years. Would have been awesome to see him play for Washington but it didn’t work out, such is life.

I could probably tell you that almost to the person (NYR fans) that we didn't ever want him to play and finish off his career with another team. BUT, as a King Henrik fan we wanted what HE wanted. And if that was to continue his quest for a Cup, as we were rebuilding the Caps probably was in his best interest. Sorry it didn't work out for him, and to a little lesser extent Caps fans. (Hope you all understand). Rock on!

Can some Canadian tell me more about this. Should we be worried about this? How powerful organization is this UCC or whatever they call themselves. Imagine being so concerned about one person who plays hockey, cringe.

It was in our news here, but you know Finnish papers will print anything as long its bad for Russia, I hardly follow them anymore.

I still think 50 goals will be tough for him to hit again this season. If he does though, that takes him to 830 career goals.

He would then need 65 goals to hit 895 over the last 3 years of his contract. (23 goals a season)
