This player is not my cup of tea.

He's good at zone entries, especially on the PP, but other than that he doesn't bring a whole lot.

He's still young, so I'm not giving up, but he was particularly hard to watch tonight.
His main issue is he loses most of his board battles...and although he's fast on a straight line he isn't explosive enough and has difficulties to separate himself. Add to that that he's on the smaller side and that makes him a pretty limited player.

My grandma is awful at NHL hockey. Anderson is worse.

A big figure skater is what he is. To think that people here didnt want to trade him for a first last year, LOL
I don’t think he’s much different than say last year.

He just didn’t burry the few chances he’s had since the start of the season that maybe he would have last year. It’s like he did enough to make some people think he’s actually good and this year he’s not even doing that

Lol it's petty but
When someone gets to this point of stinkage for me, they lose their nickname

That's why I haven't called him "Gally" in a long time but he's getting close to getting it back from me

But Anderson? Ca va prendre beaucoup
I'm just too lazy to write his full name. :DD

Last year (years), he was mostly doing bone head plays from times to times. This year, he's trying to be fancy with the puck (just to lose it) and floating around/skating in the wrong direction way too much when he doesn't have the puck. Anyhow this is the Newhook thread.

I am still mitigated on Newhook.

I think he is what he is but expectations should be a middle sixer with a lot of speed. He also has a pretty good shot but i don't think there is top line upside here.

Its pretty good and we need this depth and his speed but i think in his prime he is a 50-60 points sub 6ft LW.

We ve got ourselves an average player but we also gave pretty average picks for him.

Im fine with all of that.

Not a top liner but I think he could be a second line winger and that’s just fine.

If Slaf pans out with Suzuki Caufield

And Newhooks only game with Dach he scored 2 goals...
You MAY have something there..

It'll take 1 more top 6 forward trade.. and we have to KNOCK it out of the PARK
Joshua Roy will be with us next year. I have high hopes.

Been disappointed with his play. However, he's still relatively young, and it wouldn't be the first time a player took longer than expected to blossom. he's an elite skater and I think he has a helluva shot with a quick release. He's hit a few bars/crossbars with it. An inch here or there and he could have another 2-3 goals. But so far, he's been just OK.

Hard to evaluate Newhook. With Dach as his C he was promising. With no top-6 C, he is ordinary. What we do know is Newhook is a winger and not a C.

When he’s fully seasoned he’ll be a reliable plug and play top 9 LW with speed. Hoping he’d be Dach trade 2.0 always seemed far fetched

He seems to be close to what I remembered. I don’t think he’s a top 6 forward on a contender. On the mediocre Canadiens he will fit right in.

Could be a really good 3rd liner, if he doesn't make it as a top 6 forward.

Interesting that we passed on Cooley and Michkov because of size (definitely Cooley) and then went out and got Newhook.

I find the swings in attitude towards players here so interesting. Many opinions seem to change with the wind, and a 5-10 game stretch seems to determine a young player's whole future career.

Newhook was traded because he couldn’t produce as a 2C. He started well playing on the wing and showed his skills and speed while still adapting to a new system, coach and teammates. People were praising the trade.

Recently he’s been asked to step up and cover the 2C role, with a worse supporting cast than he had in Colorado, and all of a sudden he sucks and is not worth the acquisition cost. Has he regressed that quickly and lost the same speed and skills he was being praised for, or are people's expectations to high for him at 2C?

The kid has skills and speed and can help the club moving forward. He hasn’t developed enough yet to have a real impact at C, but he can certainly contribute as a complementary winger. Give him some time, he’s 22 years old and is not a final product yet.

He hasn’t regressed. He is who he is.
