Maybe we should trade every draft pick for nhlers...
I’ve been saying that for 40-years - look to keep trading 1st rounders for NHL ready talent

In the cap world look to keep making Dach type deals - players on ELC or about to start 2nd contracts

When guys like Dach and Newhook are available sure.

And even though we already have Caufield, and even though he's closer to 30 than 20, man I w as noted Debrincat at the price he was available for.

They’re almost always available - it’s having the chutzpah to overpay with picks if need be and being able to handle the media/fan scrutiny in this market since they love the concept of “every 1st rounder will become something valuable” …even though data clearly states otherwise

I think Byfield is about to take a leap. It would have been nice to get him, though I don't think he was ever available...

Roslevic impressed me as an under the radar guy. But he's about to turn 27. He could be a late bloomer.

To me all eyes should be on Buf - where will they be in the standings in 1-month? If they’re 8-10 pts out of a playoff spot, how desperate will they be to overpay for G and D?

Allen + Savard could be very enticing trade bait for an org stacked w players on ELC

We'll see what happens with Savard. I like our top 6 last night better than with Savard. Maybe Savard is better than Harris. But I like Kovacevic and Barron more.

If I see it this way, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a lack of interest in him. And as for Allen, we may want some stability in goal as we develop the youth, particularly the young score. Not sure Montembault- Primeau is enough stability. Though the tanker in me would be happy to roll the dice.

But Buffalo would be wise to surround their youth with good vets. Who would you want to snag out of Buffalo? I would love to get Benson. But that won't happen.

Kulich…. with emergence of Greenway, there’s no space for him on that team and he’s not the type you put on 4th line

Newhook is clearly a winger. I'm hoping when Dvorak comes back that he Newhook will flank Monahan.

His skills don't translate well as a centre.

I like the way he has been playing though. I feel for him after the Dach injury.

Sadly, his line has no chemistry, and quite frankly... any line that Josh Anderson is on becomes an offensive black hole.

Yah, the Dach injury really ruined a lot of plans. Newhook is doing well considering the circumstances, but centre isn't where his strengths are. I'm really hoping that Dvorak coming will allow him to connect on Monahan's wing.

Newhook is playing solid hockey, only thing with him playing center is that his pts production might drop a little compared to him playing wing. I wish KH made another significant move like that this season

Dvorak coming back hopefully let's him be on the W. Seems like a Byron regen but we'll see how he does in wing.

Quinn, Peterka or Krebs. I would kick the tire for any of those forward. They have too many forward and they should look for sone vets/Dman

Would love Peterka. Quinn has a nice shot but will 100% need a playdriver at centre.
Buffalo should do the same like Colorado. Colorado decided to going forward with Johansen instead of Newhook. pretty sure Buffalo are better now with a guy like Monahan over Peterka.

He seems lost at center although it doesn't help that his linemates have a combined 2 points so far in the season.

Would like to see him tested with Suzuki and Caufield. We don't need him at center long term anyways, when Dach gets back and Beck comes up we'll be quite nice there.

Dvorak was a 120 point scorer in Junior.

Do you really think Beck can replace MONAHAN as a center??

Greenway hasn't emerged. He is a 4th liner that the coach insists on using on the 1st line. But as long as that continues Kulich doesn't have a spot.

I didnt say right away.. 🤣

My point was that Newhook looks better suited to being a winger on our team, so hopefully they don't view him with us as a center long term and he goes back to wing when Dvorak gets back.

Do you need to have a prolific scouting profile in juniors to make the NHL? Not saying Beck will make the season team next year but when he does he'll play a defensive role like what Danault did when he was here. That has nothing to do with Monahan who won't be here in the long term.
