Actually I think Newhook can be another Keller. Or close to it. A lot of similarities. Both first round picks, smaller left shot winger. Both but up similar numbers in same league as 19 year old. Although Keller's numbers were smiggen better. One with BU other with Boston College. Keller didn't break out until he was 23. Keller had decent first year then struggled for two years.

Hope so, we need him to be better than a 30 point guy; however Colorado were really trying to force him to be a center, as they lacked depth at that position.

The plan is to play him on the wing. He has quality scoring hands. If he can even be a consistent 25g, 25a player then that's helpful. Trade would be fine.

He lost lot of development time because of covid shutdown. His first year he was ahead of Matthew Boldy

HuGo realizes that the NHL is a socialist profit sharing organization. Which is expanding with limited assets each draft. Add the taxes, climate, language bullshit, and toxic media we have to offer? It must be like a prison sentence to be traded to our franchise. I’m not embellishing! Newhook won a Stanley Cup… I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s not happy! Lmfao There has to be be a part of him that thinks Europe looks fantastic!

If Newhook played on W instead of C which side would he be playing on? Any thoughts.

I guess he'll play with Dach or Monahan. Finding the right linemates may take some trial and error.

I'm hoping Dvo being out for the start of the season will be a blessing in disguise, by allowing Dach and Monahan to establish themselves at center, and thus giving our young wingers good C's to play with throughout the top 9.

I’m honestly not sure if you’re trolling or not, but I bet he’s pretty happy, he’s from Newfoundland, and I bet his friends and family are all pumped to have him on (one of) the local team.

He can play both from what I can tell. There was a fair amount of RW he played with the Avs last year. Someone on the main boards posted that context.

I think Anderson and Newhook are the two RW's. Not sure who's on the Suzuki or Dach line but that's how I see it. Gallagher is with Monahan on the 3rd line.

Caufield / Suzuki / Newhook or Anderson
RHP / Dach / Newhook or Anderson
Slaf / Monahan / Gallagher
Hoffman / Dvorak / Armia
Evans

I think it makes logical sense to have Newhook with Dach. Dach is still learning at center and they can share the faceoff draws.

I agree with all your points. But that is just one side of the medal.

Some special players have thrived here. Subban, Kovalev. They surfed the wave perfectly.

I think Caufield for example is another one who thrive in our environment.

Its not for everyone and i do understand Dubois going to LA. Montreal can be the most toxic place in the league, but it also has the potential to be the best. Some f***ing career grinders have been adulated here.

I don't remember if Dach did any media tour before signing his contract last year?
He did, but he wasn’t exactly thrilled to be traded so maybe they are waiting a bit this time for the dust to settle, no rush…

I see Newhook-Suzuki-Caufield as the line being assembled

Yup.

Or, have the Caufield/Suzuki duo on one line and see if you can create a Newhook/Dach duo with the other.

Ideally, they have Slaf establish himself as a Top-6 and then they can have a Caufield - Suzuki - Newhook / Slaf - Dach - Anderson as their top-6.

I think this is definitely the "Hey it's preseason, what are the lines, oh damn they're not messing around with that line, and they stay together all training camp"
Type feel to it for sure lol

Feel a little bad for Dach, but RHP is a good winger to have and help him (coincidentally RHP had super chemistry with Suzuki for what that's worth as well)
And if it works, there's Slaf right there too

But it definitely feels like caufield-Suzuki-newhook is the first thing they try

Newhook was a very popular guy in his draft year... hopefully he has another gear. Now who is Hughes gonna trade away?
Until Dvo is healthy we have a 23 man roster as of now:

Caufield Suzuki Hoffman (ew)
Slaf Dach Newhook
RHP Monahan Anderson
Gallagher Evans Ylonen
Pez, Armia

Guhle Savard
Matheson Barron
Harris Xhekaj
Kovacevic

Montembault
Allen

Ah cphabs was using sarcasm. Almost got me.

Newhook will be happy to play more than 12min a game and prove his worth.

I'd be shocked if he passes 30 points on this team, if he could barely do it in Colorado. I hope I'm wrong, I don't see the point of trading a late 1 and early 2 for him, he is no Kirby Dach far as potential from what I've seen. Whatevs

Do you believe Newhook would be relegated to a bottom 6 role? Cause that’s the only way he’d end up with sub-30 points.

I see him being brought along slowly but with increasing responsibility over time, at some point he’ll be a top 6 and thanks to his speed he’ll see time 4 on 4 and in OT.

He'll battle 2nd and 3rd line, but this team doesn't generate offense anyways and I expect another massive injury year. He's like Paul Byron, tons of speed but never really puts it all together and goes invisible for long periods, 30 pts and sees 2nd PP time. He is not a gamebreaker , maybe he will be at some point.

I didn't understand the hype when he played in the BCHL , but then he lit up Boston College so he's an enigma.
