It's fine if ppl don't like the price but this talk of this being a Bergevin style trade is really out there. The closest direct comparable in terms of the price paid was the Andrew Shaw trade and he was 3 years older and a completely different type of player.

It's another foxhole with these guys isn't it?

I used to say this back in the Mb era, but the fox hole thing was just played up because some people outright hated MB and MT.

Every team is a "foxhole". Even the the world in general has a fox hole mentality. It's just the way it is.

So on a team with forwards:

6'3" & 227 lbs Anderson
6'4" & 212 lbs Dach
6'3" & 228 lbs Slaf
6'2" & 200 lbs Monahan
6'4" & 218 lbs Armia
6'1" & 216 lbs Pez

possibly 6'1' & 185 lbs Heineman

we're complaining they got a guy who is 5'10" and 190 lbs?

Yes a 5'10 forward who sucks defensively and couldn't hack it as a 2C on the most deperate team in the league for ANY serviceable 2C.

I'm absolutely ecstatic to have spent two late 1sts on Alex Kerfoot 2.0.

Overpayment and the move also feels rushed and unnecessary, I don't like it.

Hughes sure loves his redemption projects but he won't hit on all of them, I wish he had kept the picks this time. Bottom line is this year was beyond garbage and we'll end up with Newhook and Leonard as consolation prizes instead of the game breaking talent we need.

Tomorrow night will be a major slap in the face for a lot of people here including me.

How is he not following the typical rebuild plan? He’s traded vets for picks/prospects and for the 2nd year in a row is drafting top five.

How is that not the typical plan?

Do you think it’s typical for a rebuilding team that lacks high-end talent prospects to trade away the 13OA in one year and the 31OA and 37OA?

Dach was a good addition, will Newhook follow? If Newhook ends up contributing to our success then we won’t be drafting top5 next year will we?

It’s a genuine question because it sure as hell doesn’t seem like they plan to tank ever again. Are you happy with a haul of Mesar, Slafkovsky, and whoever they pick at 5OA for first round picks from our tank-era?

Very intriguing trade. Newhook seemed great in his draft year.

I guess the plan for him is to become either a #3 center or good second line winger.
