As an FYI…I doubt Newhook will be a top six centre. He has real potential to be a good top six winger, though. The Avs tried to force him at centre this last year with Kadri having departed and it just didn’t work at all.

He won't get high ratings until he shows that hypothetical potential, just like Dach, seriously.

I think a lot of people, myself included, liked the Dach trade from the beginning. This one I just don’t know how to feel about. That’s an awful lot to give up for an undersized player coming off a healthy 30 point season.

Well bad news for us is I think Its a clear win for the Avs or should I say Sakic...

Good news for me im also an Avs Fans and it solves problems

- get rid before low value
- dont have to deal with a new contract which people want a cheap one
- Dont fit as a bottom 6 player
- Too soft and struggle to separate himself at NHL level

Newhook wasn't able to stick in the Avs top lines, or even at the center position so im not expecting hima replacement for Dvorak and totaly dont mean that Christian is gone. He still has some skating issues.

That said, its not too late and upside still there. Maybe change of scenary will help, Montreal is a diffrent style and fit more with the guy.

Still a massive overpayment, I think 31OV would be enough at this point. I dont think Avs are gunning for picks more than assets. Maybe Debrincat to Colorado becomes legit! This speach comes from a fan who looooooooooooves the guy at his draft year.

I just hope the trade was done analytically rather than emotionally. If it was a trade based on the latter, HuGo is not going to work in this market.

If they see something they can unlock in newhook, fine. I just don't want it to be reactionary to the pld fallout..... Even though I wasn't in favour of going after pld in the first place.
