Not Really happy with this trade. Another small player….and The Colorado fans are very happy and can't believe they received so much for Newhook which is not encouraging for us,
To be fair, most trades are like that. One team is happy. The real test is when they play.

To be fair, a lot of Chicago fans (although not as thrilled) were saying it was a good trade for them as well since Dach just wasn't working out in Chicago and likely needed a change of scenery.

But it is discouraging to see these Avs post lmao

Skill player with a decent motor. Good wheels but overall a weak skater imo. Really needs to gain more strength. His biggest weakness is he can't seem to seperate himself from other players at the NHL level.

No young roster player went the other way.
That’s only semantics. We’re a rebuilding team that has traded off a 1st and a 2nd in a deep draft. There will be fallers and we’ll bite ourselves.

In reality, we’ve shipped out quality roster players — they just had yet to be named.

Friggin’ Sakic — Hughes learned nothing from his past dealings with him.

Would you pay this price for Max Domi? Newhook is not better than Domi.

terrible take, Domi isn't 22 years old, the Habs clearly think they are getting someone that in a few years will be a lot better then they have shown so far. The Habs should be targeting players under say 24 years old or so, Domi would be like putting a screen door on a submarine.

More trades like this and he might be done as GM. How small do they want to get? To make sure that they don’t value size and physicality, they threw in Fairbrother even if he’s only a fringe asset.

This is looking like Gorton’s blueprint with the Rags. We’re going to get rag dolled.

But, we’re still in the early stages of roster building, let’s see what else comes up.

Tend to agree. Newhook is a decent middle 6F type if he reaches his ceiling but man, we are loaded with undersized types.

I guess we will see how it all looks this September.

They did that last year when they picks Slaf 1st OA. And when they got Dach not long after, the picture why they didn't pick Wright was made more clear. They could do the same this year.
It would lessen the blow of not picking a fwd too. But still, as a fan I'm more excited about Leonard than Reinbacher.

I will say that Habs needed an elite skater in the top 6 as well. Seems like Slaf will get his shot on the top line this year.

Definitely need a couple more trades because 8 million in Hoffman and Armia won't be healthy scratches.

Just like we were happy with the Lehkonen trade. ;)
True! I'm happy tho. I feel like this could be a win/win trade. Newhook is fast, young and talented. His value isn't the highest right now kinda like when we got Dach but let's not forget he had to blossom on a stanley cup winning team behind a center like MacKinnon. Feels like he'll mesh well with our group. Can't wait to see him under St-Louis.
