There's your PLD bargain bin replacement, Hughes is just like MB, going for the discount versions
Funny how people just hates the trade because of the players they would have liked with the 2nd picks. Those 2nd picks would have had a 15 % chance of ever making an impact on the team.
And Newhook was blocked and miscast as a 3rd C.Dach had a bum wrist — I’d wait and see on that.
More trades like this and he might be done as GM. How small do they want to get? To make sure that they don’t value size and physicality, they threw in Fairbrother even if he’s only a fringe asset.Kent I still feel is not done
I like this deal, always liked the way Newhook played. I have nothing against it.
Now, it's got to be the end for Dvorak here right?
People are mostly angry that he’s 5’10 lolTentatively, this is what I think too. I haven't followed Newhook too much with Colorado, but he had the speed, smarts and skill back in his draft year. I think he'll be a very good fit here.
Yeah more moves are coming. I'm thinking Dvorak and Edmundson are both almost certainly gone.I think he'd be good opposite Slaf, with vet Monahan as their C.
As of now I have RHP opposite Anderson and Caufield opposite Dvorak. But I expect more moves.
If we do swap picks with the Flyers, they don't have anything else to really offer us unless they're willing to give us the Kings 1st. Flyers have no 2nd round picks this yearHave to think Dvorak + a 4th is on the way out for a 2nd a 3 rd presumably. Monahan slots into the #3 spot.
Also, the rumour of the habs dropping back to 7, and suddenly they’ve recouped the picks.
It's not so much losing the picks... I'm aware those are always a crapshoot. It's adding a player that doesn't fit our organizational needs and having him take a roster spot.
My only problem with it is, if we were going to go for a 5'10 player, why not Michkov?
Waiting for Comtois to sign with the Habs now. From Dubois to this. Died with a whimper.
Newhook is short but wouldn't call him small. He'd kind of stockySmallish forward (who hasn't produced) for a 1st and 2nd? I don't get it.
Yup, that would be a possibility.
They probably expect not to pick a C, so they made sure to acquire a young C with top 6 potential.

This is looking like Gorton’s blueprint with the Rags. We’re going to get rag dolled.
But, we’re still in the early stages of roster building, let’s see what else comes up.
can't see why every Hab GM looks only at small forwards., Is it so MSL can look them in the eye??More trades like this and he might be done as GM. How small do they want to get? To make sure that they don’t value size and physicality, they threw in Fairbrother even if he’s only a fringe asset.
