Maybe this is the dry humour Tallon was talking about.
Apart from being very dry, Barkov's humor is also rather self-deprecatory. He's constantly trying to pull in the reins when people start suggesting he's some kind of a big deal.

My favorite tidbit from an interview from roughly a year ago:

Reporter: Did you know that [Barkov's club team coach] said that you're the best prospect he's ever coached?
Sasha: Really? Maybe he was joking, trying to be funny.
Reporter: He said it to me three times. In one interview.
Sasha: Maybe he thought it was a good joke or that you didn't get it the first time.

He's got a great wit and personality. It must be the language barrier that's making him appear a little awkward. That'll get better.

@georgia panther

i was thinking the same thing lol we like to take forever signing our top picks, remember gudbranson?

We signed Huberdeau pretty quickly -- was that a sign of money problems?

maybe they wanna wait until shoulder completely heal? idk

i dont care though, barkov is a happy panther and we selected him 2OA,im sure he'll be signed

Got to camp early today and Barkov was on the ice with Shore. They were just about done with whatever they were doing and were just playing around, but Shore seems to be taking a liking to Sasha. He was with him while the coaches were talking to him and was hanging with him. Glad to see our guys taking him under their wing a little bit.

saw barkov at town center mall today in boca, he was with im pretty sure delnov and the 3rd guy i wasnt sure. didnt bother to say anything, just wanted to let them be and not bother them but ive run into loads of panther players there, thought it was pretty cool. ive ran into loads of panther players at town center, luckily for me its 5min from my house haha

Yeah that's cool to hear, maybe they are roommates at the hotel.

I'm sure a simple "hey, looking forward to seeing you on the ice this season" wouldn't be too intrusive (if you didn't interrupt them to say it) and might make Sasha feel a bit more welcome to the area. Just a thought :)

That was 2 years ago. A lot has changed like Viner's divoice.

He needs to find a new partner then. This team can't go back to the Cohen days. Or the Huizenga-I'm-Selling-the-team-for-nearly-a-decade days. If it happens again, then this franchise will probably be relocated this time. It can't survive being a bottom feeder forever. They already lost most of their casual fan base and are down to hardcore fans and snowbird fans of visiting teams as it is. They won back some with a playoff run a season ago, but it won't take much to lose that again.

This is my point, why does him being a bit longer to sign have to be solely about money?

If you don't think this team has money problems... You'd be wrong.

I never said I don't think the team has money problems, it's evident that it does.

I doubt Viner's financial ability is so dire that he can't sign a rookie to a max ELC. I simply don't believe that -- sorry.

New partner, meaning with Panthers or at home? What happened to Siegel?
