Can't compare Barkov and Granlund. Granlund is small and clearly you can see from his game he was afraid to play in NHL. It looked like he was always preparing to be hit

I've never heard about that. He seriously gained 30 lbs over the summer?

And he's on the development camp roster. He'll be wearing #16.

As far as I know, Barkov spent majority of his summer training with Ville Nieminen, I'd take "gaining 30lbs over the summer" thing with a grain of salt.

Just saw Barkov in finnish TV. He said his goal is to make NHL next year. He also said being very high draft pick doesen't make it easier to get a roster spot. He said he works hard to earn the roster spot. He also said he thinks that he has good chance to be selected in finnish olympic team if he plays in NHL. (He is already in preliminary roster.)

He also talked how big thing is to move to the new country and all when he has just turned 18.

I meant last summer, 2012. Also he battled with mononucleosis during the spring, so lost weight, gain weight.

JOL

Unfortunately you don't seem to seem to know what you're talking about. He spent the summer of 2012 training with Ville Nieminen and their teammate Henrik Haapala, and to an extent with the whole team, as the players only get a few weeks off each summer.

He could not have spent much time in Russia with his father, and even if he did I highly doubt he would have gained much weight as they are both high character people with great work ethic. His father actually was a FEL all star at age 35 and played until he was almost 39. You are quite misinformed.

Not trying to defend social awkwardness, but that dude with the mic was pretty annoying.

not trying to defend the dude with the mic who's really annoying..but I don't think it would make a difference in how Jblow awkward-like Barkov is...regardless who's behind the mic , I mean, I though Drouin did just fine..

Who cares. He prolly would have done just as fine as Drouin if he also was speaking his native tongue..

Drouin is Francophone, so not his native tongue either.
Tallon said that Sasha has a dry sense of humour, which doesn't translate well with an interviewer like the Lounge has.

No, but by saying "just as fine as Drouin if he also was speaking his native tongue" he's implying that Drouin was speaking his native tongue which he isn't. Not a slight on Sasha or edd1e, just being factual. I really don't know why you try to make this a pissing contest of who speaks more languages.

Don't forget Swedish, it's compulsory here.

halifax isn't a french area. im just tired of people not understanding what the culture is in finland and then saying he don't like to be here, his english is horrible look at drouin!!! etc

the guy comes here, whole world looks at him, and he's supposed to get through on a barely practiced language he learned in school? GJ

Way to jump the gun buddy. Tell me where I blast his English, or where I say he doesn't want to be there? I've watched enough Pesäpallo to get a hang of Finns. Reread what I wrote.

Drouin has lived in North America his whole life and has had access to English much more than Barkov. It doesn't really matter if he's from Quebec, it's not like Quebec is an isolated country far from the rest of North America. One of his best friends, MacKinnon, is an English speaking person first, and some of his other teammates are too. Hell, Halifax is in an English speaking province.

Barkov is from an entirely different continent. Not only was he in another country, he was in an entirely different culture. Canada and the U.S. are exactly the same culture pretty much. Except the U.S. has better TV.

Go read my post, I just pointed out a factual error, didn't even mention how they speak.

Saying that is ignorance or just being disengenuous. If you had said that Canada's culture is closer to the US than Finland is to the US, yeah, you'd be right. But saying that they are culturally almost exactly the same, no.

How are they that different, besides politics? Canada even has similar geography and industry as the northern U.S.

calm down guys. cultural difference discussion war after barkov cant keep up on pace with ADHD reporter

I can't wait till when development camp starts. We'll get more awkward interviews with GR and Harv shoving their phones in his face.
