The game i posted isn't a highlight. It's player isolation cam. His all shifts from single game. Highlight reels are totally differend things. Highlight reels shows only tiny part of his game those clips give bigger picture of his game.

Watching some of his highlights, one of the things that I find most impressive about him is his ability to read the play and make the right decision every time. It's almost uncanny how he does that. With the puck, without the puck, offense, defense, he never makes you nervous. He's always in the right position.
His hockey IQ is off the charts. I think of the top talent in the draft he is the smartest.

I´ve seen Barkov live maybe only ~10 times, but I´ve seen lots of his games on tv and I got to say that your description of Barkov is extremely accurate. It´s unreal how often he makes the right decisions. I think it will be very interesting to see how Barkov adjust to the NHL, since time and space in there is very limited compared to FEL (I have no doubts he will adjust very well, but it´ll be interesting to see).

It´s hard for me to compare him to any finnish player, since there really hasn´t been any players with hes skillset in here. I still cannot believe how this guy has such a complete game at his age and how he can see the ice. He makes all the other players in FEL look like they are rushing around like headless chickens. Yes, he is that calm :).

Kids at his age usually try to pass those nice saucer passes where your teammates can score, but from day 1 Barkov has just tried to make those easy passes that benefit your team, those kind of passes that work on every level.

I expect Barkov to become our number 1 center in Finland for the next 20 years since he is very close to that title even now. Florida just became so much more interesting and I´ll be cheering for you guys from now on!

ps. Even with all the hype, if Barkov should end up on AHL at some point, don´t worry. I´m sure that Florida will put him on a tough skating/physique traning that might drain the extra boost out of him. In 2014-15, he will be a Beast! :thumbu:

Just read on a finnish website that Panthers have already asked which number Barkov wants and he picked 16. It's pretty sure he's gonna be playing for us next season ;)

Told ya he'd get first dibs before Butler.

Unless that website was seiska Mogo. :sarcasm:

So here's a question, is it possible that DT had Barkov rated #1 all along? I mean there is no doubt that he had him over Drouin and Jones. Is it possible that DT preferred Barkov? It seems like Barkov is thought of as a more complete player with a better overall game while Mac is thought of as the better scorer of the two. Ive been thinking it is possible that DT had Barkov #1 on his board the whole time as Barkov seems to be more of what DT prefers in his centers.

It's possible, but I think he would have took Mac first overall. I read reports that to move up, Avs were asking for Guds. You would move up to take Mac.

DT said in the interview after the #31 pick was done, that they went back and forth between Barkov and the other two (don't recall if he mentioned any by name) up until Saturday when they had the last talk with Barkov.

It was obvious from the get-go that Avs had their sights on Mac, and I don't think DT even had him in his plans after those comments Sakic made, plus the ridiculous (if you want to trust Dater) asking price to move up one spot.

There is couple games from Barkov in youtube. Which includes only Barkov's shifts.

This is from 8 months ago when Barkov had just turned 17. #16 with Golden helmet. Sean Bergenheim plays in this game against Barkov #84 red jersey:

Period 1:

Period 2:

Period 3:

Watch his board work in defensive zone. He simply ties opposite players on the boards so defensemen can just pick up the puck. He plays like man and with his body in all zones but isn't overly physical. Helps the defense out all the time.

Thanks for the videos! These were a few cool things I noticed:

1st period
2:32 nice box out
2:38 nice backhand pass, very Huby-esque

2nd period
1:58 nice pass
5:18 his goal
6:45 nice pass

3rd period
6:13 nice pass

Haha, flashback seeing Pelts. Remember the CPR line (Campbell/Pelts/Dvo) was pretty hot for us for a good stretch.

Thanks again for the vids. Really starting to get excited for this kid.

sasha just shaking his head thinking that host on the tsn show is such a dumbass giving him all horrible free things lol

His comment on the winter gloves was priceless.

yep, also shows how tsn thinks florida panthers are the laughing stock of the NHL, gives the ring to drouin and ******** to the panther

i wonder if they give crap like that to their favourite canadian franchises too. here, a bob sledge so you can enjoy the cold summers in canada

To my eye Barkov seemed to feel like "Is this hockey show or comedy club. And no im not going to fake laugh for these stupid things and jokes" :P

yep, i would use a more colourful language if it wasn't a mature forum, being half finnish i've got to experience first hand how much finns "appreciate" these kind of things...

Here is some Barkov's sense of humor when he was 16 and became the youngest scorer in SM-liiga history:

About the goal: "I felt the puck hit my butt so I didn't feel like to start celebrate"

Reporter: Last game you got your first assist in your first SM-liiga game, today a goal, what's next?

Barkov replied: "A fight"

He also said in that interview. The goal was first credited to Jussi Makkonen and said to the guys you dont have to go change the goal scorer but they still did anyways

Maybe Florida should sign Makkonen cause he's free agent so Barkov would get all of Jussi's goals credited to himself.
