Monsters playing like hot garbage. Down 6-1. Looks like they mailed it in. Gave up 2 goals in the last minute of the 2nd. No effort at all.

7-1 final.

Cleveland still hasn't beaten Utica in 7 games this season. :help:

Utica's not even that good either, despite being third in their division. Their overall record when not playing Cleveland is 18-20-7.

Basically, they;re in third because of the Monsters,

As crazy as it sounds, Thursday night in Columbus was my most enjoyable in-person hockey game of the week.

(Missed the Wednesday Monsters game going to church - us Lutherans hold night Ash Wednesday services.)

Monsters woke up a little near the end of the first. Chinakov with two good chances, couldn't convert. Down 2-0. Playoffs may be fading away unless they can start playing

Christainsen PP goal. And then they go right to the box. Bjork for interference. 3-2.

Edit: Back down 2. Unbelieveable. Always good to get a penalty right after you cut a lead to one. Great discipline.

How far back?
Only one of 5th place. But they have earned 1 point in their last 3 and are in danger of losing 2 more. Have caught up to Bellville for last place only 1 point out there. They have looked pretty bad the last 3, losing 7-1, 6-2, and now down 5-3. I guess they aren't too far out; but they are playing bad hockey at the wrong time.

Chinakov with an end to end rush and hit the post. Then ends up scoring on a shot from the top of the left circle. PP goal. Looks like he hasn't missed a beat. Would like to get the tie at least. We just can't give it back. 4:57 remaining. Jiricek and Meyer with the assists.

Empty net goal with 48 seconds left should do it. 6-4. Lots or rust for Tarasov. Chinakov has a different gear than everyone else. Sillinger scores with 18 seconds left. 6-5. Damn, you should win games when you score 5. Still could pull it out, but it will be tough. Game over. They have given 6 points to teams in front of them, only to earn 1 for themselves. Also lost 2 points to Grand Rapids.

The disparity in Tarasov’s numbers between NHL and AHL is interesting given he’s not getting great defensive support from either. Any theories?
I don't know if there is a reason for that disparity, but it would be nice if he could put together a body of work during a season without getting hurt to see if he has any kind of consistancy to his game. His career so far has been so split up with injuries that you can't really grasp what kind of goaltender he could be, other than often injured.
