Gotta say it took me a couple of moments to check that this was not some alternative universe where Sillinger had been sent down already. Then I realized it's Owen. And then I started thinking how cool it would be to let the brothers play together, this really seems like a wasted opportunity if we don't do it this season...

Btw, @Monstershockey hope you don't mind my asking but do you want to elaborate on your Monsters fandom a bit? I've gathered that you care the most about the Monsters and I'm curious about the reasons/history etc., even if it's as simple as being the local team for you Your posts are much appreciated here in any case. :thumbu:

FYI I posted this in some other thread but JD was on the Inside Edge talking about everything, and mentioned the AHL Playoffs and sending Cole & co down. It's around the 15:00 minute mark I think, can't skip on this site... But he does say that the experience would be very good and useful and he thinks it helped the 2016 Monsters team players a lot, and he'd love to see it happen but there's some prerequisites. The words are there, now we'd need action...
The Monsters are the closest we have in Cleveland to the NHL. When we bought our tickets they were still Colorado's farm team, but literally a couple days later they became Columbus' team. I like both teams equally and try to get to Columbus to see games when I can. Unfortunately haven't been able to get to Columbus this year. I really like the partnership with the teams and hope it stays this way for a while. The one thing I never thought of, but found that I enjoyed the most, was seeing these kids get this close to the NHL, get the call up, and then being able to go see them play in the big leagues also.

I think you probably have more fun this year watching Jiricek and co then fans in Columbus are having. The Monsters aren't good but they are scoring a ton and the Jackets aren't good at anything.

I'll admit it was more fun earlier in the year watching Bemstrom, Marchenko, TFW, and Jiricek lighting things up. Also, I just caught the tail end of it, but someone cheap shotted Jiricek as he was doing a line change. It looked like the players were taking a number, but nothing came of it. There was some chirping at the end of the game, and a guy was harassing Jiricek, but he pretty much ignored him.

Nice couple wins for the Monsters. If Laval loses tonight they will be 3 points out of a playoff spot. One can always hope.
Sorry if this is posted elsewhere, but could you give us an injury update? Last I heard Guance, Tarasov, and maybe some others were out with injuries and that's the reason the CBJ didn't want to send down Sillinger and perhaps others. Are the Monsters still dealing with a lot of injuries?
Thanks

Friday they said Tarasov was day to day. I'm thinking he will be back soon. Haven't heard anything on Gaunce. Sweezey is out also, but he is low on the list of call ups. Most of the guys are back though.

Yeah, before all the injuries to the CBJ the Monsters had some names on their roster.
I bought tickets to the outdoor Monsters game next month, I was looking forward to seeing Marchenko.....but I'm happy to see him on the big club.

Any chance some guys get sent down for the outdoor game, lol

It would be nice if they did, but I doubt it.

I lived in Cleveland back in the days of the Cleveland Lumberjacks who then became the Jacks. Great unis and one of my favorite mascots ever. Buzz tooling around the ice on his ATV and "Puckhead" playing his trumpet to the crowd. Was a lot of fun. Owner Taco Larry knew how to entertain the crowds till he ran away to Mexico to avoid his creditors. They were in the IHL when I first came to town.

The days of Jock Callender and Jeff Christian and remember Mark Osborne joining the team for a year or two. You look up and down the lineup and you'd recognize names: Jim Paek, Serge Aubin, Brad Lauer, Jan Hrdina, Ian Moran, Dave McLlwain, Lane Lambert, Richard Park, etc.

One game my wife and I went to with my wife I said "arena is packed...last time I saw the arena this packed was Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader night". Not a moment later these scantily clad young ladies walked out on the ice to entertain the crowd. Wife game me the raised eyebrow but I swear I'd had no idea!

Also remember when the Barons were the Sharks affiliate and Mikka Kiprusoff did a two game rehab stint in Cleveland. That was a treat to see some dominating goaltending.

My biggest memory of the Jacks was a game where Butch Goring was the opposing coach and on a bad call, he threw all of the teams sticks on the ice. I miss stuff like that. It was always entertaining.

The Jacks weekend is always fun. They retired Dave Michayluk's number this time.

What I want is a Jacks ball cap and that is one thing they don't have in the store :( They've got like a winter ski cap, a jersey, some other useless stuff. But the ball cap with Buzz on it...I'd buy a couple of them.

If the kids get sent down, I'm guessing Luoto will be one of guys coming up here, how has he been? I remember he missed some time at the beginning of the season with an injury.

He's been ok, kind of. He had a 3 game stretch in early December where he had 6 pts. Then until tonight he had 6 pts in his last 20 games. Not really noticeable during that time. Hope he puts a few games together.

Maybe they could call up Owen Sillinger. He's been kind of hot lately and has put up a 7-16-23 line in 46 games. 6 points in his last 4 games. Swap him for his brother.

Edit: Still no Tarasov.

As of today, Sunday, the difference between 2nd and 6th in the division is just four points. This race could really go in one of many different directions.

It's nice to see them play their way back into the playoff hunt. To do it with a backup and ECHL level goalie is pretty amazing. Still have a ways to go.
