Happens all the time though. The all time AHL leading scorer never cracked 50 career points in the NHL. I dont know that its confidence as much as its pace and skill of the game.

Yeah, sometimes this is as far as guys get. Not quite good enough for an NHL career. They are just missing something that keeps them up.
Monsters lose 4-1. When you have one of the worst PK's in the league, you can't take stupid penalties in a tie game. Plus they are not good with an empty net, whether its their own or the other teams. Gave up 2 empty net goals.

Jiricek out with an illness today. Last two guys that had illnesses missed two weeks each. They signed someone to the roster, so he may be out for a bit. Hopefully he won't be.

Marlies pull their goalie with 5:50 left, Monsters then get a penalty almost two minutes later. Luoto scores on the empty net. So now both their empty net goals are shorties. Guess that is what they have to do to get an empty net goal.

Or maybe he's just an AHL caliber player and that is all he will be. Expectations have always been too high for him and he's a victim of the Jarmo Hype machine.
Between jury duty, religious obligations, and a midweek game, I'll be unable to make practice this week.

That play was right in front of me and I missed it. We are at an angle behind the goal, so the goalie may have blocked the slash, but anyway, I totally missed it also.

Thinking of making the drive up for the Monster's game tonight. I haven't been to one since the Calder Cup final. Any tips for cheap parking and maybe a single ticket?

I'm pretty sure the main garage next to the arena is 10 bucks. We have a pass so I really haven't paid attention, but I remember seeing a sign there saying 10 bucks.There is a bridge to get in the arena there, on the 3rd level. The gates open at 6 there. If you cross the street from the garage, the atrium opens at 5:30 and you can mill around there until the gates open. There isn't a major promotion tonight, so I am guessing there would be decent seats available. They do draw decent on the weekends, but there should be good seats available.

We weren't even sure if he was ready to play in the AHL. He seems to be good in the AHL, but it's too early to talk NHL call up for him.
In the Atrium, they have one of Kivkenieks' jerseys on display as well as a replica of the Calder Cup, a 15-16 Calder Cup ring, and the dasherboard panel they used to countdown the playoff wins that season.
Anyone else going to be at the Fieldhouse for tonight's game?
