Jeebus.

13 pts in 15 games in the AHL for a D+1 player? That is definitely exceeding expectations even for a high pick. I can't remember when that's happened before.

Kind of weird but Marek Malik appears to have the record for all time points by a teenage defenseman in a season. 2nd is John Carlson, he paced higher but played less games. Jiricek is basically on the same pace as Carlson but with more goals.

He's been good. He is the dman on PP1, and they have the top PP in the league, so that's a positive. The second unit has been good also, Knazko is the dman on that. Jiricek though has been solid, no real glaring mistakes being made. Its more team defense that is leading to the amount of goals being given up. Probably an extension of the system Columbus is using, as both teams are at or near the top of goals against.
How would you assess Knazko’s chances of being an NHL player?

I'm sure he will get a look. Knazko, to me, seems to make more mistakes than Jiricek. I notice him turning the puck over more, and getting beat going back the other way. Offensively he puts up numbers, but will make the ill advised pass here and there. All things that are correctable the more he plays. He does well on the 2nd PP, and leads AHL rookies in PP assists. He's a good player.

I hope he will be tried soon. Christiansen and Bayreuther are nothing special, losing them wouldn't matter, especially if we have other young defensemen in the system. And not worse as minimum.

It would be nice to see him called up, but I don't think there is any hurry right now. Sooner or later I would think he would see some time in Columbus.

Bemstrom with PP goal. Jiricek and TFW with assists. 1-1. Monster PP is real good. Then Clayton turns puck over and its 2-1. Now going on the PK, which sucks. If they had a halfway decent defense, they would be running away in the division. Its always something.

The ice here is so bad that halfway through the second the ice is slush, and when the crew comes out to clear the ice, they are shoveling water. Quick turnaround from the Cavs last night.

Gallant scores his second in two games to take a 5-4 lead. Then for the second time in a row, Dunne goes to the box soon after. These penalties right after goals are a pain in the ass.

Dunne makes up for the dumb penalty. 6-4. Knazko had an assist, also.

Edit: Luoto with the EN goal. 7-4.

@Monstershockey how has Jiricek’s skating looked, more specifically his backwards skating this year? It was something I thought he needed to work on in the AHL.
I'm not knowledgeable on how he should look, but there are time where he looks fast and mobile, like when he is skating with the puck, and there are times he looks awkward, like when he is trying to recover because a guy has gotten past him. Overall though, he looks good at this level, and I have rarely noticed him out of position enough where he has to rely on his skating to get back in transition.

On a side note, today's game is on Ballys Great Lakes at 3PM. It is chuck-a-bear night(day), which is always a fun game, at least when they score to get the bears on the ice. One year they didn't, and they just throw them at the end of the 2nd period, which is fun, but less so since they haven't scored in 2 periods.

Damn, Bemstrom is frustrating. Every time I read this thread posts report another goal by Bemstrom. Yet he can’t replicate his performance here. I know his usage isn’t the same when here, but the difference in output is frustrating.

Luoto from Bemstrom and Gaunce. Glad they scored to set off the bear toss. 1-1, first intermission. They'll play the last 2 minutes of the first after intermission, than just start the second right away.
