He's been as least as impressive as McDonagh was defensively during his debut. Add in a layer of offensive awareness that's borderline elite and you have the makings of one hell of a rookie season. Too bad Makar is out of this world good and will most likely cement the Calder before the all-star game

Kakko is almost a sleeper pick now, but I think hell ultimately he in the running too. You can only contain his offensive prowess so long

Fox is really fantastic. I've been so impressed with his defensive play. I figured the ability to transport the puck and the offense would be fine, but the play in his own zone has been so good. Tremendous acquisition. Well worth giving up the picks to get him here this season.

he really has been good defensively. much better than anyone expected...no need to rush it but i'm really curious to see at what point quinn gives him an opportunity on the pk and other situations so he can continue to learn and grow. the kid doesn't seem like he's phased by anything mentally so i'm not really worried about hurting him by putting him in those tougher situations. I think he'd step up in those situations if anything

I'm sure all your fancy numbers and weather maps and transmogrifiers are really useful, but for those of us born before the Clinton administration, Adam Fox now has 5 points in his last 7 games. The scary thing about him? I think he could keep that pace up. If not now, then very, very soon.

Hey man, props on having a sense of humor about not being a stats guy and not just attacking people who are like a lot of idiots do.

Fox has quietly slipped into 3rd in points for rookie defensemen. Makar and Hughes need to slow the **** down.
Makar and Hughes are both getting some prime power play time on offensive powerhouses, which is strange to say for the Canucks. I thought Makar would be the favorite all season for the Calder because of that and because he’s older and got some games in last season and I thought Kakko would be in the conversation with him and the two Hughes brothers, but right now I think the top 3 (not in any sort of order) for Calder should be Makar, Q Hughes, and Fox

28.57 Off. Zone Start %. Quinn Hughes has 65.00. Almost all of Hughes' points on from the PP (8).

Wish I was old enough to say I’m getting old

Do you, though?

Yeah, Fox has been on the 1st PP for the last two games. As much as people deride Quinn, I really like how he's broken Fox into the league. Yes, ever starting him out with Staal.

Tony DeAngelo is putting up a lot of offense, but to me, he's better suited to the 2nd PP. The less-skilled and still-young players can play a less complicated setup, and focus on tipping his shot or looking for rebounds. Whereas on the 1st PP, with highly skilled, creative players like Panarin & Zibanejad, you want an equally cerebral defenseman playing the point. Fox is that guy.

suddenly fox is a better PP qb then ADA ?

not getting that.

fox has been good but so has ADA. the PP seems to be where both guys can do some damage.

as good as fox has been and hes been vg, ADA has been just as good.

its a good problem to have.

Fox is a much better all around player. ADA for all his offensive talents is lost in his own end.

ADA is a creator. maybe the best passer on the team. as far as vision and play with the puck on his stick, as good as any forward and certainly the best blue liner by alot.

hes been the victim of playing with marc staal early on so his play suffered there substantially.

hes been better in his own end of late but will never be known for that.

5v5 hes the best creator from the back end on the team. PP point wise, hes still got the edge over fox at this point. hes a forward with the way he thinks and moves without the puck. he drives plays and lines.

as much as everyone whines about his defense, there isnt nearly the props for his skating and ability to carry the puck from dzone into ozone. his ability to do that is under appreciated.

fox has been great and he makes it look easy, but hes had his wtf moments too.

This boy is EK65 Lite. Remember how bad EK was defensively when he started? But he was always instant offense and a phenomenal skater with great vision. That’s Fox.
