I personally would run my four centers to start the year KJ, Laine, Fantilli, and Voronkov. Find out what you have as far as center ability. We seem to know far too little about what we have.
Your last sentence captures why I’ve been uninterested in trading for a center. Let’s explore our roster first as I think there’s candidates already here and Fantilli makes trading even less appealing for me.

Avs fan, but I was curious what the normal premise around Columbus fans is when it comes to drafting so many "Go Blue" players?

Hopefully they dont Fantilli in too big stage first. I would see spot in 3rd line.

Tex - Fantilli - Jenner

Just a little history - Ohio State has been around here for over 100 years for the most part was the only game in town until 23 years ago and Michigan is their rival. Every born and bread Ohio State fan is brought up to despise Michigan.

Most fans don’t care when they leave the university lifestyle and enter pro, but there are some that want nobody from the Michigan Wolverines. I am a OSU born and bread fan but I don’t care where the player is from once they put on a Blue Jackets sweater.

Barry Larkin is one of the most beloved Cincinnati Reds ever and he went to Michigan. Detroit Lions fans loved Chris Spielman and he went to Ohio State. Pro sports in Ohio and Michigan have been dealing with this forever, and we really have no problem with it.

At its purest the rivalry is based out of respect

I welcome our friends from the state up north

I don’t give a fraction of a **** about OSU despite living a mile away from main campus. I went to a different state school and have no family connection to OSU. In fact, I almost went to UMich. I think it’s silly to be a fan of a school you didn’t go to just because you were born somewhere in the state it’s located, especially since you’re really just a fan of the laundry. You can’t possibly become a fan of players who are only there a max of four years and often only one or two depending on the sport and their skill.

I say bring on more Wolverines! It’s hilarious to see the ridiculous reactions of people who care so much about hating Michigan as if the two states aren’t more alike than they are to any other two states.

It's well established that nobody's perfect. If being Michigan Men is the only flaw they have, then we're in pretty good shape. ;)

There are some folks who take it way too far. That said, we've also had folks who are extremely bitter towards OSU for a couple reasons (such as how the arena deals went down). In the end we're all hockey fans who want to see our team do well.

"On Thursday, a day after Fantilli was picked No. 3 overall by the Blue Jackets, the Blue Jackets met with him and his advisors — agent Pat Brisson and Fantillli’s parents"
Worst comes to worst, Werenski likely can suggest someone else if Brisson decides to try to be an asshole again.

Echo much of what’s been said in response to this here, but there’s an added layer that I don’t think has quite been stated clearly.

There’s an element of “new Columbus” that not only doesn’t associate with the rivalry but also would like to distance itself from the university as far as the identity of the city goes. The population growth in the last 30 years is largely migratory, with many new Columbusites having no connection to the university. The CBJ fall right into that timeline. We don’t want college football chants or fight songs or whatever in our NHL arena. We would like the NHL spirit in Columbus to be different from the sometimes-limiting feel that comes with “Buckeye” everything and “TTUN” hate.

So that underlies the responses here about “it’s cool” and the like.
