Because it's Jiricek, right? That's where you were going with this, surely.

I don't see Werenski as super vocal, just sort of average while Boone is a mute. They'd all make fine captains. And maybe Fantilli or KJ would too.
Not really no. I mean maybe he grows into it too but Werenski seems like another Foligno type captain minus the willingness to physically fight on the ice. You hear his name much more in interviews or him just speaking in general, Babcock talks about a meeting with Werenski which is slightly weird you'd think something like that happens with the captain or all of the captains. I think they like Zach a lot too and this injury time off seems like it helped him grow in the off ice area of leadership.

I dont know too much of Jiricek's off ice or locker room qualities. Fantilli already seems like hes cut from that cloth of a leader though. Its nice to see these traits in the kids though, its nice to add deadline vets here and there but its best when you can develop it internally like Detroit did for years or what Boston just had

Zach seems to have taken important steps last season/this offseason. Prior to that he didn't really scream "captain" to me, not sure if he does now either but he's probably going to get it for a few years/his CBJ career.

Jiricek I just don't see as captain - maybe an alternate for his fire, but I think his English will hold him back in the early years.

Fantilli, on the other hand, totally screams captain to me once he gets some years on him and there's an opening.

There’s many ways to lead and one reason team captains vary in personality. My preference is a good guy, vocal guy like Foligno.

And I really don’t want to read into it too much, but idk, something about the way he said this gave me a feeling that he really wants to be better than Bedard. Gave me the vibe that he thinks Bedard is a jerk.
I mean I can only imagine what having the spotlight on you at such a young age for so long does to your ego and mentality. Takes a special person to go through all that and truly be humble and down to earth.

While it sounds like Fantilli is a good guy and there's nothing inflammatory about what you posted - I suspect that a large part of the reason Bedard wouldn't drink with a stranger is that he's been under the microscope longer than anyone else his age and knows that whatever he said would end up on a message board like some of Fantilli's comments did here. Not saying you did anything wrong but if I was in Fantilli's situation, I probably wouldn't want random comments about my teammates made in a casual conversation posted on the internet.

Did you just happen to stumble upon them or were you working? If you did, pretty surprising (in a cool way) that Adam and Luca would just welcome a stranger into their group for a night and chill.

Could be upbringing, could be fear of public backlash or could simply be he doesnt want to. Kobe Bryant was notorious for going to the gym when other guys went out and even went so far as to try and convince opponents to go out while he was in the gym. MacKinnon is also dlstrict with the diet but once the job was done he was not scared to let loose.

All are completely fine and his choice though. For all we know Fantilli will look back at it in years and admire what Bedard is doing now

We were sitting down at town hall and they were just walking laps through the bar, then eventually my fiancé poked Adam and said “Hi, I’m Kate” and then the rest was history haha

Kid is a good interview. His dad was a pretty creative guy with things he thought of to improve his game. Like taking him to the eye clinic to do peripheral vision training because he was unhappy with how he saw the ice or making him learn to golf right handed to balance his back and not overload it from always shooting lefty in hockey

Yeah a good interview. Very natural. Genuinely seems like a good person, too. If I allow myself to overanalyze a bit, seems like he goes with the flow well but isn't afraid to speak up or tell his opinions. Seems like a great teammate who will bring good positive energy into the locker room. He'll make a great captain someday.
