Dan's Five:

1. Sunny, light breeze, 75-85 degrees with no humidity. Don't mind a bit warmer still than that but humidity is a no-no for me.

2. I've been lucky in terms of physical injuries and the like. Was playing indoor hockey in high school once and a guy got me right between the eyes with his stick on a hard follow through. Nothing broken fortunately, but it hurt and bruised pretty good.

3. The west coast of Ireland and the island of Santo in Vanuatu. Different types of green, both very pretty.

4. Gee, I don't really know. I tan easily so there's that.

5. All I would say is don't rush into it or treat it trivially. Beyond that, it really depends on the people and circumstances.

1. Describe your ideal weather

Dead calm, first t-shirt warmth of the season, setting sun.

2. In honour of ol' spring-loaded shovel @Mione134 , what is the most painful thing you've ever experienced? Physically painful, that is.

Probably the tattoo on my elbow, it got so swollen that it sorta folded over on itself. Was awful.

3. Where was the greenest place you've ever set foot?

Big Porcupine Lake, Algonquin Park. Was super peaceful until I rounded a corner in the canoe and came face to face with an angry momma moose.

4. Which of your own physical features do you find most attractive?

My shoulders.

5. How long should one wait after starting a new relationship to get it on with the other person?

Theres something to be said about physical chemistry being figured out sooner than later. Like many have said, no real rule here - whatever everyone’s comfortable with. I will say that the younger generation are much more liberal about sex than we tend to be. I wouldn’t specifically wait, nor would I be specifically eager.

Edit: Optional bonus question to start 2024: share a photo of yourself, today, smiling for the camera. Let's get a little cozier up in hurr. No pressure, you shy types.

My beard is starting to come in nicely, the plan is to go full curly stache like Bill the Butcher a la Gangs of New York.

It's also giving me Peaky Blinders/The Knick vibes.

Love it!

I finally ordered 4oz jars to put my homemade vanilla extract in so it is more secure when I move. I’ve got a lot of it so if you are a baker and want a bottle let me know. The beans are from Madagascar and I used Sky vodka for the alcohol. Message me if interested. I can’t sell it because of the food laws in MA.

Can someone explain this craziness to me like I’m a 5 year old. I don’t get it.

I don’t get it either. It is a pink cup. Sure it’s a massive cup of good quality but running in like an animal and tearing up the display to get one and the. Selling it for insane amounts of money is simply foolish behavior.

Bottom line, it’s a f***ing pink cup.

Side note: played what is probably my final men’s league game last night, tho I didn’t know that going in.

Fitting that I ended with a gordie Howe tho - set up the first, scored the second, and then fought a guy who clubbed our goalie

However, ruptured the tendon in my ring finger in the process, and now have a splint for six weeks and a visit with a plastic surgeon to boot

And with that, I move into oldtimers where there are no fights. I am glad, lol.

1. A ton of powdery snow on the ground, sunny, 30-40 degrees.

2. I want to choose something else just for the simple fact I was 10 when this happened, but I went over the handle bars on my bike and broke everything in my left pinky finger. At rest, the tip of my pinky was almost touching the tip of my thumb. Truly grotesque. My father told me it was just dislocated so we tried and failed to "pop it back in." I went to the ER where the doc tried and failed to do the same thing. They gave me a splint and sent me to a specialist. After two months I went back for xrays, and wouldn't ya know it everything healed completely wrong. Doc told me they had to set it with "one quick break." I sat there, tiny 10 year old me and watched as a very large man broke my finger with his bare hands lol. I don't remember the next half hour but pops says I never passed out. Next thing I remember is the chilly xray table they slumped me over to get another image. I hope modern medicine prevents children from experiencing this now.

3. Perhaps Maymont, or even the white mountains. Some really nice lookouts up there.

4. Me and Tina Turner, best legs in the business.

5. idk man, I'm staring down 40 pretty soon. I could never do the one night thing or the first date.

I'm on instagram and the book for all to see. Have no way to get a selfie on the laptop and I don't have the motivation to get the phone out and rewrite this

Had a banquet for work tonight. My turn to get a tenure award. Ick. Thankfully I made it up on stage and back without tripping and/or dropping the glass award. One girl didn't realize the glass globe on the desk pen set she got wasn't attached and as she started down the stairs it fell off and went bouncing into the crowd lol.

Yes, we get desk pen sets and glass paperweight dustcatchers as a reward for various years of service. Please don't get me started on that :help: I guess it's the thought that counts.

At least the food was good and the banquet "only" lasted three hours. In years past sometimes they would go until midnight.

1. 55-65F, sunny, brisk wind...or....5+ inches of fluffy snow, 30F

2. menstrual cramps....I saw stars trying not to black out

3. Actually, the forest around the Cave...in spring. So many shades of green

4. Pure white hair and blue eyes...

5. Don't know..... don't care

Will post bonus question as soon as I find it on my phone

Peace out....

I love how every year when we're supposed to get snow, nobody ever knows.

Meteorologists: Could be 6 inches, could be rain. Your guess is good as ours. Good luck. :help::laugh:

I just want some damn snow.

1. Describe your ideal weather
- 70ish, light breeze, full sun, low humidity.
2. In honour of ol' spring-loaded shovel @Mione134 , what is the most painful thing you've ever experienced? Physically painful, that is.
- I snapped my elbow back in the other direction at a wrestling camp in high school. I was wrestling some kid trying to go D1, he hit a beautiful double leg on me and picked me up, I attempted to brace my fall and my elbow went the wrong way. The hurt came about 30 seconds later, after literally the entire gym went quiet to the sound of the snap.
3. Where was the greenest place you've ever set foot?
- Great question, I'm not really sure. Honestly probably a golf course. Forests and stuff have a lot of other colors.
4. Which of your own physical features do you find most attractive?
- My sick flow (hair)
5. How long should one wait after starting a new relationship to get it on with the other person?
- the 3 to 5 date range, depending on the depth of the dates themselves. Also I'm (or was, engaged now) a little old school so 'getting it on' also signifies exclusivity.

Bonus: I've barely slept for two days and certainly look like that's the case; take a rain check.

Yessss, I knoooooooo some "don't have this problem because i pay $"

But for those that don't pay, are you getting ads like this now? or is my browser just trying to pick a fight w/ me

This explains so much. I run a pop-up blocker but starting a few weeks ago I started clicking 'ghost' ads that would open up a new tab and take me to some random ad page. I've now noticed that if I hover my mouse over the forum link I want to click and the name doesn't highlight, I'm going to click a ghost ad. Refreshing the page seems to fix it for me. It's mostly a problem on the left side of the screen too.

This thread is amazing. @Alicat, making your own vanilla essence is impressive. I would love some but the cost of shipping to Canada is absolutely ridiculous, just sending a Christmas card is $3.00, but thank you for the offer you are making to everyone.

My first win of the year from a December contest - 5 days of Hello Fresh ($185 value). To give you an idea of how seriously I take my hobby, I probably spent about 2 hours a day during December entering since it is the busiest contest month. Pretty poor pay unless I am notified of something else...lol The thrill of the chase is what keeps me going.

My resolution of not buying, hoarding, eating so much chocolate was out the window on January 4th. I was so pleased with my will power, passing up the big displays of discounted chocolate from Christmas leftovers in the stores. Waiting in line, a worker came up to me and said they were opening another aisle, so off I went.....right there, Hershey's Kisses and Hugs (180g bags) for $1.12. Are you kidding me? In my defense, I left two bags for other people.

I am fairly new to it, but I am also into surveys and contests as a hobby. I have not won anything major yet though.
My late stepfather was also into contests. He used to get a magazine that was full of them. It was titled something like contest digest believe it or not. He won a few nice things, including a trip to Cape Canaveral to see a shuttle launch that never happened.

May your hobby be a blessing to you.

If you want tips, let me know. The main thing is just keep entering, most people give up after a few weeks. I have been doing it for 25 years. I have won over $125,000 worth of prizes over that time. I no longer enter for trips but in the past went to The Grammys and NHL All Star Game.

Good luck to you, I hope you win something really amazing!
