No idea where this would go, so I’m putting it here. Have any of you seen this??? It’s bizarre, repugnant, and fascinating all at the same time.

Well. I'm going to have a huge black n blue on my cheek. I feel like I've been punched squarely in the cheek. And I've had my fair share of fist fights in my day, but good lawd.

I opened up this new shovel for my dad. Not knowing it was SPRING LOADED because the directions saying warning were hidden. So I cut the zip tie and BAM right in the face.

I'm seeing stars, folks. And guess what's under the instruction label as it falls to the floor?...the warning label. Cool. Cool. Could of had that in a better f***ing spot. So I'll share my ugly ass face with you all. This shovel can kiss my ass. It's cursed. 😡🤬

I went down in a fetal position. BAM!

Luckily it missed my eye and mouth.

Just another day of me injuring myself 😩

When I was growing up, Red Lobster was a high end restaurant for us lol. That's usually where we had birthday dinners. We had very few restaurants to pick from in those days, and Red Lobster was probably 20 miles away.

When I think about how many restaurants are within a 20 mile radius of me now, it kind of blows my mind lol.
I still love their Walts favorite shrimp

yikes.

Yep, lol. As kooky and possibly paranoid as it sounds, I have actually mentioned buying things I normally wouldn't only to myself
Are you saying that you talk to yourself? I've had the same thing happen after talking about needing to buy something. AI hard at work :eyeroll:

Fridays was great 20 or so years ago. Maybe 15.

I went 5ish years ago, disastrous. Worse than Applebees in every way. I didn’t think it was possible.
Last time I went to a Fridays was about 4 years ago. Maddie was at children’s for a week long study so we walked over and after sitting down and eating, immediately regretted that decision. It was just such low end dog food. Literally awful. We laughed because even though it was covered under the study and didn’t cost us anything, it still felt like we paid too much and got ripped off.

After a short break, softball officially kicked back off for my youngest tonight. I get so much enjoyment watching her play. The indoor training facility is 10 minutes from my door so my wife thought I was dropping her off and coming back home. I was like uh, no. I’m staying and watching. It’s literally my happy place because she loves the game so much.

Reminds me of the time I was working at a grocery store bakery in HS, went to the freezer to get our delivery and slipped on ice and smashed my face on the pallet jack handle.

Ironically my kids standing up and hitting my unsuspecting lower jaw into my tongue/lip did way more damage haha.

I love that my daughter does softball too. It gets us out in the ugly April/May months plus the girls are all really supportive of each other. She will be in Majors this year which will be an adjustment.

1. Describe your ideal weather

September: 50s at night, 70s in the day, not humid, windows open 24/7, water in lakes/ocean still warm

Honorable mention to 50 degree days with sun while skiing, soaking up the vitamin D deficiency.

2. In honour of ol' spring-loaded shovel @Mione134 , what is the most painful thing you've ever experienced? Physically painful, that is

Broke a rib playing roller hockey, re-injured it golfing. Pain doing everything.

3. Where was the greenest place you've ever set foot?

Olympic National Park Hoh and Quinnault rainforests. The Forks, WA was a weird rainy place propped up by the National park, Bogfoot, and Twilight movies/books. Everyone has a pavilion so they can get outside. Our Airbnb was a mobile home with a pavilion built over it. +/- 10 - FT !!! or rain a year in the Forks

4. Which of your own physical features do you find most attractive?

Although I went bald early, I am glad I have a nice shaped head for shaving lol. Some oddly shaped heads out there that would not look good shaved. Also glad I live in an era where shaving your head is more "in". I look a lot like by grandfather and he had some bad combovers.

5. How long should one wait after starting a new relationship to get it on with the other person?

I have not dated since meeting my wife in 2010 but then a few dates + texting and communicating in between seemed right. Now? is is scheduled beforehand via an app? Who knows, glad I don't have to deal with that.

How old is your daughter? My youngest is 11 and just started her first season of travel this past fall. She'd played rec town league prior, but wasn't getting the coaching she needed so we finally bit the bullet and tried out for travel and it's made a world of difference for her. She's really gained so many new skills and gotten so much better. In rec league, she and I were looking on youtube for drills and working on things in our backyard because the coaching wasn't anything other than some unqualfied dads doing the best they could with limited time and resources. Moving to a program that's focused on player development has been a game changer for her. The only negative is that this was her first season and she's in 12U. I wish we'd have started earlier because she was the only kid on her team that had never played travel before and there was a bit of a learning curve for her initially. The good thing is that she's got a great work ethic and loves being coached, so she's made a lot of strides.

If your daughter likes the sport and wants to work hard to get better, definitely look at travel ball options in your area. It's much different than rec or town league and with the number of games and practices they get, it will make a huge difference for her.

1. 65-75 degrees and sunny during the day, mid 50s at night with a crispness in the air, like early fall.
2. Nerve impingement in my shoulder. Made even putting a shirt on grueling
3. Oregon/Washington state. Both are so green and beautiful and have a Boston like feel but set up in a grid so its easier to navigate.
4. My calves. It's a running joke in my family. All my years of skating paid off, I guess.
5. Depends on the person. I've had relationships that took a while and others that happened very fast. Neither was wrong because situationally it was what we both wanted at that time. I also don't judge anyone for their choices either. Do what works for you.

So I am learning now that there are competing baseball/softball organizations. My town is Cal Ripken for Baseball and Babe Ruth for softball, other towns are little league. The differences vs. little league for softball are minimal but there are differences on the baseball side which I actually like (Stealing, increased base distance, rookies). But being it's VT there are not enough kids for a travel team plus having the towns sorted into different leagues makes our "tournament" laughably small.

The good thing is that the middle school/high school starts at 7th grade so they will get exposure to the older kids there. My only complaint about minors is I wish they allowed stealing on passed balls. The catcher's will be in for a rude awakening from doing nothing to getting stolen on every few pitches.

Perhaps 25+ years ago, there was a TGIF on the corner of Exeter and Newbury, and a Waterstone's bookstore above it. The building, one of my favorites in Boston, used to house the old Exeter theater.

Well, there was a kitchen fire.

Rather than call the fire department -- and there's a station a few blocks away on Boylston St. -- whomever was in charge decided on a more logical course.

As the fire spread, he ran across Boylston to find the TGIF manager.

Needless to say, this proved problematic.

Both TGIF and Waterstone's were damaged beyond repair and closed shortly thereafter.

It's too bad. I had my first "blackened Cajun fish" there (in the '80s). Good times.

Glad I can finally post again! Work firewall was weird for a while and i block most websites on my phone to reduce the screen time.

Got to increase the posts to likes ratio, probably the lowest on HF! (I tell myself its because I did most of my posting before likes were cool)
