OT - NO POLITICS A Hazy Shade of Winter

So I work for stop and shop. Marty was first brought in to check for debris on the floor. She can sense something as small as a cherry pit. But now she goes around the store around 5AM going up and down the aisle looking for missing tags. If one is missing or not in good shape one is created in our label system to be printed out and put up by our person who does the tags. Eventually she will scan missing holes on the shelf and update the inventory level on our computer systems so the product is ordered.

There are 12 cameras on Marty and there is only less than a handful of people in the company who have access to those recordings.

You can accept the friend request and remove her from the list of people who see what you post.

If she presses things, you can play the “I don’t post. I just use it to keep in touch with people” card.

For those of you not really old enough to remember life before the internet, life used to be a lot less complicated.

I cant begin to tell you what Ive been coughing up since after Xmas.
My eyes also have gunk in them in the morning,
They gave me an antibiotic on Friday but told me to hold off until Today in case it got better.
It is better. I hate taking antibiotics, so Im gonna see how it goes this week. The mornings still suck a bit though.
 
Knee replacement update.
Doing well, walking is fine. Flexibility is good, can ride exercise bike 20 minutes each day.
Usually days are good, nights have been achy waking me up often, but last 2 have been better.
Still swelling right at kneecap.
Now it's time to strengthen and the mental aspect of what is ok to try to do

I vividly remember a conversation we all had right here in the OT thread over the summer about A.I. One of the Mods asked us to move on from the topic because it made some of us nervous and uncomfortable.

I'll say only this: if the topic of artificial intelligence makes you uncomfortable - it should.

While AI is an intriguing and a slippery slope, I notice a lot of people (myself included sometimes) make the mistake of assuming it'll act like we do. AI wont necessarily have human nature, in the sense of it wont automatically act in it's own interest and at the detriment of others the way we do (as a species). It truly could be altruistic

We do the same thing with aliens, we assume bad intentions because that's what we would have as humans.
 
I learned all I need to know about AI from watching Will Smith save the world in I, Robot.

So, like War Games, it may figure out no one really wins? I tend to think the opposite, that it will figure out humans are completely dispensable and are a threat to the planet.

I was on 10 days of augmentin and my sinus infection is definitely back. I'm confident prednisone is in my future with another round of antibiotics.

I do 2 drops of zatador allergy drops in each eye every morning. Stings like hell but they don't itch during the day.

Whatever is going around just lingers.

I wouldn't want to be a teenager today. It was hard enough 40+ years ago.
