Last night my neighbour sent me a friend request on FB, I really don't want her to know all the details of my personal life. I am ignoring it for now but know she will text me soon to ask if I got it. I don't want to offend her but we have very little in common and I don't mind having the odd cup of tea on the deck with her but that is where is ends. Anyone have any advice on how to deal with that?

Do not accept friend request....if she persists just tell her you have enough clutter on your FB page. If she is offended that's her problem....

Just tell her you want to keep private things out of your neighborhood.

I have unfriended a few over the last 7 years because after reading their posts realize I have nothing in common with them and they are no friend of mine.

Facebook....the place where you connect with people who used to be your friends, only to realize why they USED TO BE your friends.....

If she asks, I'd say you are trying to keep it to family only

I have a couple of people like that. I accepted and then jacked up my privacy so they couldn’t see anything on my page. They either never noticed or got the message because they never said anything about it. Then I quietly deleted them after some time had passed.

Or, you could just tell this person that you never liked them anyway and you’re relieved to finally have that off your chest.

Good luck.

Actually, Ernest Becker's landmark work, The Denial of Death (1973), isn't a downer.

End of the '23 is turning out to be expensive $$$ .... last Tuesday car battery dead and wont hold charge, buy new battery. Wednesday car low idle sputtering battery voltage droping off - Thursday afternoon car in shop ... needs new transmission shift module, not in stock have to wait supposedly some time this week. Fine, I have an old pick up truck ... Thursday evening turns out battry also dead, tried charging overnight got to and from work Friday. Sunday battery won't hold charge - buy new battery for truck. At least I can get around. Yesterday afternoon my house air handler stopped working :( Unit is old about 18 years may need new one if not an easy fix. So now I have to have my ac service guy come out and figure things out. Maybe not until Saturday morning?? Hope it doesn't get real cold for this area (west of Ocala Florida). I will call him later today. Plus I have the MRI for my lower back early Saturday afternoon.
Anyway, let's hope for a good new year.

That sucks. Bad luck comes in bunches, you should be good for awhile. I typically pay for new brakes and tires and then get rear ended a week later.

Read this a thousand years ago because I had a professor who considered on par with the Bible, the Gita or any other book you want to name. :( It wasn't. It did have some inspiring and interesting passages though.

As mentioned, jack up your FCB security settings, and she will get the message. You might not see her again for tea though.

We got hit with new brakes for our Crosstrek, followed by wheel bearing for same, followed by alternator for my truck, and major transmission work for wife's ascent which was thankfully under extended warranty

The Quiet Corner
I went grocery shopping yesterday for the first time in 6 weeks. My sister came with me in case I had any trouble. I didn't but today is another story. I wasn't there a half hour but my new hip is quite sore and my bad hip has me screaming for mercy. I did the ice pack thing & flexerall plus extra strength tylenol. I'm feeling really frustrated right now. Sister says I need to be more patient, that I'm doing very well for someone just 6 weeks after major surgery.

Concrete floors are an absolute bitch.

I stepped foot inside a Stop n Shop for a cake and ice cream, Dad turned 63 yesterday. How does anybody afford to shop there? Just at a quick glance almost everything looked to be close to double in cost compared to Walmart/Market Basket.

It was also jam packed, with many empty shelves, very few employees, and that f***ing robot stalking me up and down the aisles

This is probably the least painful option all the way around. Just say you limit contact to those in your immediate and extended family. You can even say that you made a pact to do so.

Polite but firm.

Take care, and please take it easy. It's not a race, though it may feel that way.
