Get some olbas oil....swear by it
Right now I've got some vicks on until I can get some of the oil. My nose is running which is a great sign. What bothers me the most is that raw feeling in my throat. Lots of water, tea and gargling with hot salt water.

The heat feeling from the olbas oil lasts way longer than vicks. You can also put some drops on a tissue and put it in your pillowcase.

Most health food stores have it as well as amazon (of course)

Hi everyone. Wally told me I should share this with everyone here again and I am more than happy to.

This is the sixth year I am heading up my family's Memorial Toy Drive in honor of my sister, Kayla Noel. She passed away unexpectedly due to complications from a chronic, debilitating medical condition one day before her 23rd birthday in 2011, just five days before her favorite holiday, Christmas.

Kayla suffered from gastroparesis and was in and out of hospitals a lot as a result. My sister was also a very giving, very generous, very empathetic person and during one such hospital stay she told my mother she wanted to come back and deliver toys to sick kids who were in the hospital at Christmas.

We began this Toy Drive ahead of what would have been her 30th birthday and over the last five years have donated thousands and thousands of toys to local Boston hospitals in her name. That has included donations from friends, family, total strangers, and members of this forum.

I know a million people are asking for donations this time of year and there are lots of great causes, but if you would like and can give to ours it's very easy. We're donating to Boston Medical Center and Shriners Children's Boston. While I will be delivering toys myself in person, both hospitals also have online wish lists you can buy from. Those needed items get sent straight to the people in charge.

I will include the links for the hospitals below. You can pick one, two, or three. Totally up to you. Whether you give a single gift or many, each toy represents some extra joy for a kid who really needs it during a very hard time.

If you make an online donation all you have to do is include a note on the order that says "For the Kayla Noel Drive." It's easy, but very important. That note is how they know the toys came from our drive and they can put one of our stickers on each item.

(If you can please also send me a DM letting me know what you ordered so I can keep track of what's headed in. And feel free to share this message and these links with anyone you like. You'd be stunned how many people I have never met give.)

This drive helps my sister fulfill her wish and it helps me and my family, who carry her in our hearts every day of the year, share her with people who never got to meet her. I don't have the words to express what that means to us.

So for those who have already given and those who will after seeing this, thank you. Thank you more than I can possibly explain.

A very special thank you to the members of this board who have donated to my family's toy drive. It means so very much to me.

Hundreds of toys will be given to sick kids this Christmas because so many people are so generous. While lots are already at the hospitals, I will be delivering hundreds of toys in person tomorrow to Boston Medical Center. (Shiners asked for everything to come in via their online wishlist.) But you still have time to give if you'd like.

Just pick any items you'd like from either/both Amazon list. Preferably you'd opt for something with a pre-Christmas delivery date, but don't worry if something arrives after the 25th, it will still get to a kid. Some toys are given out the week after Christmas.

Just make sure if you send something you include a note with each toy. Write "For the Kayla Noel Toy Drive" so they know it's from us and include a sticker.

Thank you all so very much, and Merry Chistmas and Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Apartment management sent out an email today saying they would be doing sidewalk repairs the next two days, and for everyone to park "at least 4 feet away from the sidewalk" to give the workers room.

Yes, that's going to work very well in the places where there is parking on both sides of the main drive where there's barely enough room for two cars to get by as it is.

Plus I still have PTSD from that stupid box truck cutting the corner too close and hitting my car. :banghead:

Somebody reported an active shooter situation at a local mall last night. The entire police force plus some from Nashville showed up.

Turned out to be a hoax.

What kind of freak does that, ever, but especially right before Christmas? Ties up massive resources that could be responding to legitimate emergencies, scares the living daylights out of everyone in the mall, and their families....ugh!! Hope they catch them and prosecute severely.

Forget wanting two front teeth or a hippopotamus for Christmas. I'll take new sinuses please.

Hoping my ENT is able to get me an emergency prescription to evict this crap preferrably before Christmas.

Kids are germ magnets.

Tomorrow would have been my Mom's 100th birthday. She was the best person that I ever knew. She has been gone for 15 years. I will always miss her. I feel it the most at Christmas as she was the heart of my family.

My stepdad has some connections at the Pensacola NAS. He ended up with some more Blue Angel pics today. I think my favorite is the one over the Pentagon. My dad used to have to go there sometimes for work, years ago.

That's a great collection. Got any photos from the mid-late 90s or early 2000s? I flew with a bunch of guys on some of those teams.

A very good friend of mine made the ultimate sacrifice flying with them and the Tailhook Association had a scholarship in his honor. I'm sure he's still smiling about that...

Turtleboy indicted on 16 more charges related to witness interference in the Read case. I wonder if he actually believes she’s innocent, or if he’s just using this as an opportunity to get more personal notoriety. I don’t actually care about her guilt or innocence, but I hope to God if she’s guilty they hold him accountable for spreading what sure looks like a bunch of libelous nonsense.

Oh, I'm very sorry about your friend! I actually have a sweatshirt that they sold in Pensacola after that crash. :(

Somewhere I have a pic of them flying over the Twin Towers in June 2001. I might have others, I'll have to look.

When we lived in Pensacola in the 90s, one of the solos, Ryan Scholl, lived down the street from us. My parents met him but I never did. He is actually in the Magic of Flight movie they show at the museum.
