Danielson -2, 4/11 in the dot in what looks like a 6-1 loss.

Not worried yet but more so annoyed that almost all the players I wanted over Danielson and Kasper are looking better.

I know the team sucks and all that, but it is certainly hard to square his performance so far with how he showed out in camp against tougher and older competition.

Hockey is a team sport. And Danielson’s teammates are absolute trash in Brandon.

we worried yet? His stats are pretty sad.

I know, his team sucks, but shouldn't he be good enough by himself to generate more considering he's a top 10 pick? 9 points in 12 games in the WHL is pretty underwhelming...

Everyone will say no, but him and Kasper have ceilings of 4th line grinders at most.
I’m curious… is there actually anything the Wings have ever done that you like?

I would say, yes, it is concerning. I still think he's got really great potential, and his time in Detroit was very promising. But if he finishes below PPG for the season in the WHL, that's a red flag, no matter which way you cut it. Hopefully he picks it up.

I will say that I was slamming the table for Benson and so far he is looking exceptional. I really think you could easily train an algorithm to make picks based on certain key words in scouting reports that would perform better than 95% of NHL front offices, at least in the first round where plenty of scouting reports are available. I'm worried Kasper over Savoie and Danielson over Benson will haunt us.

Based on his preseason I'd almost be surprised if Danielson couldn't have put up 2 points in 6 NHL games had he stayed. How exceptional is Benson, really? And if you say anything about not statwatching I really, really hope you are actually watching WHL games to make an accurate analysis of Danielson's play.

I am stat watching, and I’m tired of people acting like it’s pointless. Can you name me a single better predictor of NHL success than point production at lower levels?

Stats aren’t perfect and context matters, sure. If he was doing this on a stacked team it would be a lot more concerning. But numbers almost always don’t lie. There are very few (if any) effective top 6 NHL players that didn’t dominate in juniors; guys like Getzlaf are very few and far between.

If anyone feels stats dont matter they're flat out lying to make themselves feel better..

Goalie stats matter
Offensive stats matter

They're not the be-all end-all but they do indicate the probability of success at the next level.

Not many prospects failed to produce at lower levels then went on to dominate in the NHL for a career.

No time whatsoever to panic, but, more should be expected

I’m willing to bet there exists effective NHL players that at some point had a 12 game stretch below PPG in juniors.

And again, you seriously think it’s impossible he could have 2 points in 6 games in the NHL after the preseason he had?

I think one of the good things is his two way game pretty much insures he still plays on the WJC team. I have seen a few guys over the years use that tournament to jump start their game to a different level. I would like better counting stats, that isn't a bad view point. I think he is a good player, I like the way he plays the game, and most importantly I like the way it projects around NHL talent. We did get those flashes in the pre-season. He needs to become more dominant as the season moves along, I think he has the talent to do that so let's hope he closes into the holidays better then explodes in the second half the season.

You can be concerned but not think the sky is falling.

Totally agree. You hope for the best while looking at comps and if we're being honest he's not even performing at Rasmussen levels. Raz was 1.25 PPG in his +1 draft year. Nate is currently at 0.75. Sure. it's only 12 games but you expect a top 10 pick to be able to produce points at this level.
