1 point in 6 games so far with the Griffins. Don’t think we can expect much from him at this point.

We have got to start hitting with these draft picks.
What are the draft picks we haven’t “hit on” yet? By my calculation, the Wings have done very well in the draft

The entire team is tied for 4th last in goals for... You really wanna write off a 19th year old coming off an injury to play small ice in North America?

Guys like Veleno and Rasmussen did not start coming around for how many years? Will we learn that most prospects need 3 to 5 years to make an impact? No, we will not.
came to post this. Some fans need to learn being patient. There are so many obvious reasons why Kasper is not performing well (sidenote: The whole team is playing bad) at the moment but there are still guys out there who expect kasper to dominate the league right away.

I just can't understand that. At least give a 19-year old prospect the time to shake off his injury & to adjust to nothern american hockey.

Veleno has had a good start this year, but D+5 is not the usual timeline for a pick to “come around”. Let’s see what happens.

I don’t think Rasmussen has ever made much an of an impact.

In the high rounds (1-2)? Last 10 years?

Smith, Svechnikov, Rasmussen, Lindstrom, Zadina, Grewe, Tuomisto, Mastrosimone, Johansson, Wallinder, Niederbach, Hanas, Buium. Way more if we go back further. We have way more misses than hits.

This has zero context. It's like saying Luis Arraez only had a batting average of 0.354 this year - look how many more misses than hits he had! (When in fact he led MLB in batting average.)

ALL teams have more misses than hits. You'd need a realistic comparison to other franchises, possibly normalized for draft slot.

That was a phenomenal draft year for defencemen, when Wings went after forwards.

Zadina busted, but Veleno and Berggren could be Top10 forwards of this class. Never 1st line guys but middle6 scoring.

/agree, if we get lucky we have potential to perhaps be in the running to maybe possibly be near a playoff spot 3 or 4 years from now (small chance) mostly due to constant god awful SY draft picks

Lets at least wait until Johansson, Wallinder, Hanas and Buium are a bit further on their journey before writing them off. Zadina (who everyone was creaming themselves about on draft day), Grewe and Smith disappointing picks for sure, as is Niederback on the face of it. Lindstrom has already done ok for his draft position, as has Rasmussen if he sticks about at this level. Svech was just unlucky - can't blame scouts for a guy blowing out his knee twice.

rasmussen, wallinder, hanas, buium, johansson were especially terrible picks

If Kasper becomes that high end grinder type, he will be considered a bust based on where he was drafted. But, that is still the kind of player the Wings need right now. How is his play outside of scoring stats?

Yeah, but that still wouldn't be exciting for a Top 10 pick. We can pretend, well it is still something we need, but if that is all that he ends up as is a gritty version of Copp, then we rightfully should be disappointed.

I feel like I'm missing something. How did we go from Kasper being a top prospect in the organization to being a bust and/or a career grinder.

He didn't even look out of place in his one NHL game.

Why? Compher's as offensively inept as Copp apparently is.

He's not. Compher has generated chances coming off the boards. The problem is no finishers on his line. Copp has hands of stone, and that's who is mostly doing the shooting on that line.

If you put Copp with Larkin this year he probably has 8 fewer points and trolls on this board would be crying about Larkin not being a true 1C and that Raymond is a bust. When you look at icetime versus impact he has been probably the worst forward on the Wings this season, if not bottom 3.
