Never been a butter fan. Even the good Danish and Irish stuff.

Only ever voluntarily put it on toast, crumpets and potato cakes.

It makes me ill when people butter sandwiches. And iller when butter and then put on mayo or mustard or ketchup... tastes so weird with a sauce on top.

A block of butter usually lasts me a year ahaha.

One mussel, no not really a problem. But a whole bowl of them, in that sauce that they come in where some of them might be submerged and you have to fish around for them... that's a little work. But I never, EVER, said mussels are too much work. That would be insane.

I personally go for the whole lobster, even the legs if I'm really motivated. But for someone who thinks it's "too much work", just go for the tail. Beginners.
I am not sure what sauce you are referring to. Up here, most placed steam them in garlic and white wine when you get a bowl as an appetizer.

I too eat the whole lobster. The "bodies" that most don't bother with, usually yield enough for a little sandwich...but it does take time to pick that meat out.

I still would never tell a beginner to not eat the claw and knuckles due to too much work....it's worth the effort!

I was looking at prices today and they have gone thru the roof. They are $17.99 a lb....$18.99 if they cook them for you(supermarket prices....restaurants are way higher)

That's what I meant. I just used sauce in the generic, liquid-y sort of sense.

I thought I was the only one. My family looks at me weird when I opt out on butter.

All these butterphobes have been passing false judgement upon me from a position of false moral authority.

You are obviously overly sensitive and overreacting to the situation. Nobody is saying butter is bad. Only that, like all things in life, there is a time and a place. Butter on toast? Fine. On pancakes and waffles? Better than fine. Sometimes when I make spaghetti, and sauce from a jar is too much work, I’ll just melt butter in the noodles, dump in some parmesan cheese and some broccoli (steamed of course) and voila.

But corn on the cob?

When I was a kid I used to put butter and salt on my corn on the cob.

But when I became a man I put away childish things. Except Fruit Loops. I still like those.

Edit: And as Whitey always used to tell us, Tastykakes are made with “milk, butter, and eggs”. And TKs rock. So yes, up with butter. Just not on corn.
