Star center?

He's gone scoreless in 15 of 16 games this year for Seattle. 0 points in his last 11 games with only 5 shots on goal. He's now gone 5 consecutive games without registering a shot. They gave him a chance to center some of the team's top scorers at the start of the season, but he just didn't take advantage.

He's got an NHL future but I'm not sure I would bet on him becoming a star.

He's referring to the initial Zibanejad and 2nd for Brassard deal that Ottawa and NY made.

He's referring to the trade that sent Zibanejad to New York.

Although Zbad was picked 6th overall.
Ahh that makes sense I guess, though the implication is still that Wright is a star in the making like Zibanejad clearly was when in Ottawa, which is a bit of a false comparison IMO.

Wright has positive value. Zibanejad has negative value.

This would be a heist for the Rangers. No way Seattle takes on one of the worst contracts in the league for a player who may be completely cooked. Wright could bust. He’s still on an ELC. Won’t hurt the cap.
Wright's value is low, so is Zibs
just to be accurate, it's not like Mika has lost it overnight
the prob is he was sooooooooo good w/Kreider, who continues to be productive, but Zib is not showing chem
but can still skate, shoot,, etc in a vacuum

He does. But he gets a raise if he goes from New York to Seattle because it’s no state income tax. That’s kind of what they have to hope for. Seattle, Nashville, Vegas, Dallas, Florida/Tampa

That’s basically it
On paper Zib would go to LA b'c
Shesty would be included, so once and for all, he would get the message most vets are getting moved, which he'd then consider a waive...
- he is top dog in line to replace aging Kopitar if Byfield included, which would be the case w/an extended Shesty part of the package
LA is w'c version of nyc
has a comparable music scene for his other interests

THAT is the best fit as to him considering waive

In what world could LA take on Zib and an extended Shesterkin contract? That's gonna be like 20M in cap....

The best they could hope to do is find a partner who would take on Zibanejad for future considerations and beg him to waive his NMC. But that's completely unrealistic. Rangers are likely stuck with him.

1. Shesty extension kicks in next yr, not now.
You want elite Vez quality arguably best G, you have to pay.
I think 12.2 x 5 gets it done
Now, a serious quality G is AT LEAST 8-ish.
So you are talking really only 4-ish more for that jump.

2. Long term, Doughty is not getting any younger, so his $$ covers the back end of that deal. Just have to juggle first 2-ish yrs

3. Also Byfield now makes the better part of Zib's 8.5, like coupla mil dif, which can be juggled. Short term NY can take back a short term contract to help out.

also again, zib is not washed up, broken down, no value
prob is we rightly have high expectations of him w/Kreider, and Mika has forgotten chemistry

They can't add a net 6M dollars, let alone 10M+.

LA isn’t trading Byfield for a goalie, no matter how good that goalie might be.

Why would anyone want Zibanejad? A quick read of any Rangers GDT or post game threads tells everyone everything they need to know.

Can’t trash him game after game then expect to pull the wool over anyone’s like he’s some shining star.

I don’t get the Wright hype here. Yes Zib hasn’t looked amazing this year but at minimum he’s a really good 2C who’s elite on the PP.

What has wright shown? He has zero top 6 skills. Looks like he will plateau as a dime in a dozen 3rd line C maybe like a JT Compher or Alex Kerfoot
