Good post. And I disagree with deadhead often (such as his believing Ghost should have spent an extra season in the AHL, & his obsession with size). But he’s far from an idiot. And I appreciate that in many cases he has a more moderate take than “Goody Hakstol’s a witch!” And “The sky is falling!”

It's the nature of message boards/the internet. I completely understand the eyerolls that deadhead gets, but not necessarily the vitriol. Just let it cook. I'm typically with the majority opinion around here, but have recently disagreed with it re: analysis of one certain player's performance, and you see that there's very little tolerance for nuance and a huge appetite for shaming and likes. But that's the internet. You can only be heard if you're making a binary point. You can only agree with something all of the time or none of it. No asterisks or explanations.

I dislike Hakstol but I wouldn’t have blamed him for a fighting a fan after the amount of shootout questions he got during that event.

Member that video where he was arguing with Larry Brown? I don't know that I have ever seen a fight where I wanted two people or groups to fight to the death and both die as much as that, outside of the Steelers/Cardinals Super Bowl, which is the worst thing that has ever happened in sports.

It is interesting to me how many people try to paint deadhead as a moron.

He's well-written, logically organized, and gives evidence for his opinions even if you don't agree with him.

To me, he's easily one of the smartest posters on the board.

When people try to label him a complete dumbass, it lowers my opinions of those who do so.

It's like they want to bully him into their opinions and want no parts of actually considering there may be some truth in some of his differing opinions because it may threaten their own thought processes. And, of course, by shouting down his opinions and casting a scarlet letter on him, it attempts to persuade others into believing his opinions are idiotic and the masses are clearly correct.

So much mob psychology in message boards. And life in general, I guess. Disagree with him all you want, but deadhead isn't anywhere near stupid.

It takes a smart guy to be able to evade questions like him....i do agree he is not dumb or stupid, but his way of discussing is not straightforward and clear.

Is hakstol a good coach?? Well it doesnt really matter because his players are mediocre so he cant really be evaluated.

Is sanheim ready or not?? Well lets see it play out.

He doesn’t give answers to straight up questions because he doesn’t want to be proven wrong, not that he doesn’t have an opinion on these topics.

He’s the classic lawyer: Never EVER let yourself be compromised, victimized and defeated by your own words.

This is a philadelphia flyers message board....we dont need Matlock. If you’re wrong so what.
