Well, McLovin was already taken. What kind of first name is McKade? Come on.
Congrats to Carter
Not bad for Sophomore
Mazur looking like the bully who steals other kids lunches just to throw them away and then pounds a can of busch heavy....
That’s one hell of a reference to see on Hfboards. Was just rereading Speaker when I was supposed to be working yesterdayMazur Rackham bout to f*** up some Formics!
I don't think so. He's not a college free agent so he doesn't have leverage to demand NHL ice time. He would also burn a year of his contract if he did play any games, and I doubt yzerman wants to burn a year. He also needs to get stronger and work on his skating. I do think he will be signed this summer though and start in GR next year.Mazur had 8 goals and 10pm in 7 games. How is this it bigger news? If he keeps this up he will be playing in Detroit at the end of this collegiate season.
But at some point you have done all you can at the college level. He’s already won a championship and if he keeps this scoring up what more does he need to prove at this level? He could be a Hobey Baker finalist.I don't think so. He's not a college free agent so he doesn't have leverage to demand NHL ice time. And that's why I think he will be signed. But there is a massive jump between college and the NHL and his skating isn't NHL ready. But at some point you have done all you can at the college level. So was Hirose. But at some point you have done all you can at the college level. He’s already won a championship and if he keeps this scoring up what more does he need to prove at this level? He could be a Hobey Baker finalist.
So was Adam Fox, Matt Boldy, Shane PintoSo was Hirose.
The point was that the award doesn't guarantee NHL success, look at the list of Hobey Baker winners. It's hit or miss, and Makar is the only generational talent to go the college route. So was Adam Fox, Matt Boldy, Shane Pinto
No, of course not, but he’s tearing up the USCHO, and picking up where he left off over the summer. The point was that the award doesn't guarantee NHL success, look at the list of Hobey Baker winners. It's hit or miss, and Makar is the only generational talent to go the college route.
It won't transfer to the NHL unless he can play at NHL pace, in terms of skating and also reaction time. Otherwise he'll wind up looking like PErlini/Brome/Zadina. It's what keeps guys like Riley Barber in the AHL, you remember him from last season. Dude is a 1 PPG player in the AHL, but can never seem to do anything at the NHL level. No, of course not, but he’s tearing up the USCHO, and picking up where he left off over the summer.
Agreed Jaster and I was one of those he was drafted too high guys on Bertuzzi. I learned my lesson. I liked this Mazur pick from the start I don't get why people didn't. All he has done is produce and exceed expectations each year.Carter Mazur is Tyler Bertuzzi all over again.
- bunch of outspoken detractors upset he was drafted “too soon.”
- Swiss army knife type, gamer, timing impeccable, gritty/physical and plays a hard game, finds soft spots in O zone, quick reaction time.
- scores more than you’d think given lack of pure skill.
- skating is not a strength.
He’s gonna be good, even if he doesn’t quite get to Bert’s level and winds up more middle-6 than top-6. Either way, he’ll have a lot of versatility.

He has top 9 forward written all over him maybe top 6. The best part is his skill set is different then a lot of our forward prospects.
Imagine him on Kasper's wing that is going to be no fun to play against and lots of fun for Wings fans.
Hes no eurowing, or whoever that SanJose dwelling wings fan with the hot girlfriend was, but he'll do...it's definitely interesting to see how everyone has changed (or not, newsy) over the years.Mazur : Kasper :: Bert : Larkin
I can see it, based on styles. Just need him to keep developing. He’s been a fun storyline thus far either way!
Ah, @Go Wings, what a time. I still laugh about our stupid battles like 10-15 years ago Glad you’re still around, bud!
Absolutely those would be great pairings.Mazur : Kasper :: Bert : Larkin
