People like to overreact on draft day about certain prospects being selected, and then some of those people like to double down and refuse to budge as their takes become more and more ridiculous with time.

I don’t understand why some people can’t back off their initial impressions in the face of new evidence. Mazur may not have been ranked too highly at the draft but since then all he’s done is get better by leaps and bounds. At this point we can be excited about him anywhere he was drafted.

A younger Bertuzzi sure would be nice

Probably closer to Hyman than Bertuzzi, but still a solid player.

I'm glad our management doesn't just blindly follow the consensus. They do their own research on players and take the guys they want. It's why we have Moritz. Mazur is looking like another good player that flew under the radar.

I was kind of meh on the Mazur pick, but his play at Denver and here at the WJC has been a pleasant surprise. Hopefully he continues into next year. With Savoie moving from Denver to the AHL/NHL, Mazur should get a lot of opportunities.

Weren't you also in the "Hughes is overrated" camp?
I don't think I ever used the word overrated, but no he wasn't of interest to me in the draft. I knew he was always a possibility, and I wouldn't have been disappointed had he been the pick.

I do know that if I cared to go back in time and look at the names I commonly brought up, it would be primarily forwards. A lot of McTavish, Guenther, Eklund. Some on again off again comments about Kent Johnson.

I like Luke Hughes as a player, but when I see him in a helmet I think of Finn Shleby and I do not like that character.

I am a fan of this prospect. Where he ends up, I have no idea.

Outside of edvinsson and potentially kasper mazur just might actually be our second best prospect. All he does is produce. And I know people might groan at the intangibles saying but he truly has all of them. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him get NHL games next year.
