It only "leads to 10 pages of discussion" because people immediately jump in to defend Hank as if he could never let up a bad goal.

1+1=2.

Yeah, because some of us are sick of people complaining about goals like the 2nd goal without mentioning how bad the team just got beat.

That's not bad goaltending. That's capitalizing on a great scoring chance. The first goal was bad goaltending.

So you're including his great pre-Olympic streak to boost his numbers? Lol.

He's had a .915 since the break. He's been pretty average. He's not being paid to be average.

He had a crap start, a tremendous pre-Olympic break period, and is now average at best.

Why should I not include it? Secondly, you do realize a .915SV% is above the NHL median SV% for goaltenders right? Look at the leader boards before you call it average.

He currently rankes 13th out of 40+ goaltenders who qualify for the leaderboards.

Start being more objective on here please. A goaltender ranked 13th in SV% is not trash.

His SV% this season is higher than the career SV%s amongst the likes of Quick, Price and Miller. Did all of them have not just one, two, or three, but a multitude of BAD seasons? No. So, stop the non-sense. You come off as extremely bias, and frankly, a hater.

At the end of the day the only thing that matters are the goals he let in. Sadly for Lundqvist he has been known to let soft goals in his entire career. There is no disputing that. At the end of the day all that matters is the score at the end of the game. He could make 100 fantastic saves in a row, If he let's in 3 goals & two of them are soft & we lose 3-2 well you can figure the rest out.

Every goalie lets in soft goals

Tick Tock.

Flyers get behind 2-0 but battle right on the **** back and its 2-2 THEY ARE ****ING AMAZING

We're down by 1. We're down by 1.

After one period against a team that can't keep the puck out of its own net. All things considered, it could be worse.

There are some extremes on Lundqvist but the real issue, I say onto you all, is Derek Stepan.

k?

Derek Stepan has been an abortion. He's been so God damn bad this year that it is actually upsetting. Especially since when he broke out last year, we thought we finally had a #1 center.

Instead, he just skates around aimlessly and smiles like an idiot.

When your "1/2C" is playing like a 2/3C with no speed on a team that needs it, this team will need a very solid defense and great goaltending to do anything.

True but to be fair/objective this has been his most inconsistent year since being the starter

agreed...and we've seen him make saves like this in the past. That's why he got payed such a ridiculous contract. This year, compared to other goalies at their salary...well lets just say i really hope he can steal some games for us in the home stretch and is back to form next year....I think that's being fair as well.

I'm curious what we even do with Stepan. I assume that they give him another year since his value is just nowhere near what it was last year. I think it's the only thing we can do.

I mean Stepan made a pretty tremendous defensive play right in front of the net

Nobody pays attention to defense.

The fact that Steps will end the season with more than 50 points while playing great D night in and night out will gave way to hyperbole.

Again, absolutely false. You want to personally jump on him, even though there were several dozen people who called him out on it, including myself?

Why continue to beat a dead horse.

Well, we arent doing well defensively and we havent taken a single challenging shot against Lehner save for the breakaway. Better turn it from 0 to 1 next period.

His defense has been solid. Not great. Solid.

The problem is that he's completely listless in the offensive and neutral zones. I could accept that from Boyle (someone who I don't expect to score and who I expect to play solid defense).

From Stepan? No. I expect more.

Can we get an All Purpose Henrik Lundqvist Thread on the Rangers forum to eliminate some of this spam in the GDT? These GDT are not even focused on the game anymore. Would a moderator approve of this?

So we can't discuss when he makes a bad play because certain people don't want to hear it? OK, then.

Stepan is a young, elite 2C who can still grow.

He's been held off the score-sheet in only 2 of our last 10 games.

He was out of it offensively before the break, but has been very good offensively along with typical great D since then.

You guys are out to lunch, here.

Why would you include a bunch of stats pre-Olympic break when his play since the break has been completely different? It's a pretty dishonest way to try and make a point.

No it's not. It's his most recent 20 game sample.

How is using his most recent eight game sample any more valid?

A 20 game sample size is more indicative of overall play than eight or nine games. Simple statistics.
