Aside from what has been said/mentioned. I will say Adam Fox is really incredible at keeping the puck in the offensive zone. He is also really slick in some of the fakes he does to give him some separation in the defense zone to get the puck moved out. Adam Fox does a lot of the small things that most defenders don't do and its a thing of beauty.

Was also nice to see the Bread kick.

Bread isn't playing like last year but is still putting up a hair over a pt per game. So in short, a bad Bread is still better than most players playing well. lol.

he was very close to last years play last night - was way more active and wasnt just setting up shop in that one area of the offensive zone

Blackwell's play was inspiring. Should put a stop to the Brian Boyle rumors. That was more like it.
His energy is great. He does handle the puck like a grenade sometimes and like howden is not great at accepting passes not on the tape. He should not be playing with top players because those lack of skills will destroy scoring chances. This is the area where Fast was so much better than both of these guys.

True, but Kakko is not going anywhere.
I am not insinuating that he does. But IF Buchnevich takes yet another step, and let's say that is now a 65 point forward. The cash to keep him is going to have to be found. And someone like Kravstov may not be long for the organization.

Yeah, the choice between Kakko and Buch is not that hard.
No one is saying that Kakko is going to be traded. But there IF (again big if) Buchnevich continues to excel and becomes even more, him getting traded is not a slam dunk. And that cash is going to have to come from somewhere. In many ways, Buchnevich can put himself into a position to punch his own ticket.

I think once Quinn watches that game again he will notice Kakko should've gotten more ice time. He was all over the ice making plays
Where are you proposing the time in last night's game come from? The easy answer is Blackwell, but he was certainly not making it an easy answer last night.

In foreseeing this problem, some believe the smart idea would have been to make do without Chris Kreider and his $6.5m cap hit, and have traded him for a haul at the deadline, and then give that money to Buch.

Yet the answer to these concepts always seems to be "they can't do that." "They have to keep him."

You're right, that money will have to come from somewhere. They aren't gonna be able to keep someone they want, eventually. At some point the team is gonna have to make the hard decision to trade away for value someone that they foresee losing, before that player walks in free agency for nothing, and suffer a period of time without him on the ice until a replacement can be procured.

I suggested that be Kreider; Buch would be next on my list of easy suggestions along with DeAngelo. If it's not Buch, and you say it won't be Kreider, I'm not sure who you think it's gonna be.

But Kakko will never be moved before we are quite sure of his trajectory; and that day will not arrive before a decision on a long term deal has to be made on Buch.

So are AP and Igor unwilling or unable to speak English? All of AP’s posts on Instagram are in Russian, but he’s been in the league for at least five years, so I don’t know what’s up with that.
Agree. It should be somewhat mandatory to at least learn some English. Look at Pavel, he's come a long way. Shows he is trying. No problem taking American money, right?

I would rather have a good player who doesn't speak English, than a not-so-good player who does.

The team clearly does a great job maintaining possession, but I think they're doing a crappy job opening up good shooting lanes and high percentage chances.

I'd like to see them moving their feet more in the zone, sliding more guys in and out of the front, and getting defenders to move. That needs to be followed up with a stronger and more overwhelming net-front presence for rebounds. I feel like too often we don't have enough people in place to capitalize on rebounds and get the dirty goals. I'd be willing to sacrifice some time of possession in exchange for more dangerous chances.

That win felt great, but it shouldn't have been a close game. Ullmark played great for sure, but considering the amount of shots and puck possession I don't think they made his job hard enough.

And yet "other than" that dumb ass penalty, he had himself a good game. Believe it or NOT, we actually need him in there.
I wouldn’t go as far as to say we need him lol

He’s a good 4th liner, let’s not make him out to be some essential piece

Energy is just what we needed and he looked pretty cool dishing that game winner too. I wouldn't be quick to remove him, or Lemieux for that matter, from this lineup anytime soon.

I remember him in a World Junior Game against Canada . He drew 3 penalties because of his play and had one hack of a game for Russia....I also remember him taunting team USA bench .....I like the guy...he has some passion in his game and some grittiness but he is one of the most snake bit out there for scoring for us .

His biggest problem is that he's an average finisher, not terrible, but not as good as you'd like.

he's up for a new contract so yeah the trouble is figuring out how to re-sign him and not knee cap yourself down the road, especially with the cap uncertainty to some extent.

Wing position might also be a bit crowded with Buch, Kakko, Kravtsov, Laf, Panarin, Kreider and then others knocking on the door

To be honest in the cap NHL it's really tough to stack your lineup with quality players and pay them all
I think one of them converts to center (probably Kravtsov) and we move on from Kreider by then
