Only problem with Buch playing so well is that it’s going to be really hard to see him traded. I don’t see a path to him being here long term and that really sucks.

Blackwell's play was inspiring. Should put a stop to the Brian Boyle rumors. That was more like it.
The kid makes himself noticeable. That is what I like the most. Makes the most of his time and makes himself noticeable.

It is only 3 games, but forgetting about the points, he plays with an edge and plays a straight line game. Has done nothing that would warrant exiting the lineup and if he continues to play the way that it is, he is going to write his own script.

Big problem I see with letting him go here eventually is that he's taking the role of the guy doing the heavy lifting and such on his line and if the Rangers keep trading those kind of players they're going to keep having the kind of issues we're seeing with Fast being gone
I dunno what the tradeoff is, maybe you hope Kakko continues to develop that puck hound work ethic, but I see it as an issue

Am I the only one who thinks Buchnevich has been the best Ranger this season? His game has evolved so much since he landed in North America as a scrawny awkward Russian. He looks dangerous every time he has the puck, he’s been forechecking harder than anyone else sans PDG/Blackwell and he’s asserting himself like I’ve never seen before. I’ve always been a huge Buch fan, but a lot of people had wanted him moved. Going forward I think he’s a fundamental part of this team, and of the leadership group too.
I remember him in a World Junior Game against Canada . He drew 3 penalties because of his play and had one hack of a game for Russia....I also remember him taunting team USA bench .....I like the guy...he has some passion in his game and some grittiness but he is one of the most snake bit out there for scoring for us .

Him and Smith no major gaffes, and he moved well on offense
Smith played well, but he was way too high and out of position on their powerplay goal. He came out to challenge some in the faceoff circle, and could not get back and even close to Reinhart in front of the net. I think if he plays more regularly instead of Johnson he might not get as hyper and run around as much.

The one noticeable thing about him this year is how engaged he has been from shift to shift.

He continues this type of play and he is going to force Gorton & JD to make some rather hard decisions.

Bless your heart
As I said, there is only so much space. And IF (big if) Buchnevich continues to play like this and takes another step forward, he is going to put management into a position where they will need to make a hard decision.

why would we have to trade him. We wont have any cap issues for the next 2 or 3 years really.
By then we could buy out kreider. Problem solved.

buch is a key piece and a line driver. He is the type of player u need to succeed. They key is to not completely overpay him.

he's up for a new contract so yeah the trouble is figuring out how to re-sign him and not knee cap yourself down the road, especially with the cap uncertainty to some extent.

Wing position might also be a bit crowded with Buch, Kakko, Kravtsov, Laf, Panarin, Kreider and then others knocking on the door

To be honest in the cap NHL it's really tough to stack your lineup with quality players and pay them all

True, but Kakko is not going anywhere.

Buchnevich has been the best forward in every game.

He's become a really good playmaker. Very patient with the puck and doesn't make a whole lot of bad decisions anymore.

Machinehead tonight after the analytics and the win.
