/\ This Kero guy continues to impress and was named player of the week in the AHL. I won't be surprised if he gets a shot ahead of Dano.

Great handle as well.

He's also a guy who can play left wing. He probably needs a bit more experience before jumping to the NHL, but he might be able to fill that vacant top line role in a few months.

Easy on the fawning over Kero and Dano. Kero has gotten some gift goals if you watch the games. Dano has been... I don't really know how to describe it. You want to see NHL level players dominate and he isn't doing that but he is still racking up points fairly well.

On Kero, through his 14 and 15 years now he has been ridiculously hot and lucky with his goal scoring. Now, a guy like Scotty HArtnell is a less skilled player who has made a career off being a hockey sense and opportunism scorer. Kero could be that type. His skill isnt crazy good. Doesn't snipe, doesn't burn with the skates and doesn't dangle.

I still don't know what to make of him.

In the few glimpses I have had of Kero, he is a determined type who has real good wheels.

Will be interesting what they do now. Kero, Dano and longshota Mashinter and Morin who started well. Hartman thrown in there too just because of the fact he showed well last season.

This is the type of move where nothing will surprise me. Okay, admittedly if Morin got the nod that would.
I know Q likes Mashinter. If BB remains out and Q feels the need for more physicality, he could get the nod. Logically however, Q should be thinking about adding some offense. I'd love to see Kero get a stint.

Offense was very poor last night. Hartman scored the lone goal on a nice tip on the PP with under 2 minutes to go.
Went to OT and a SO. They sucked in the SO a lot.
Nobody really stood out, but Morin sucks so bad. I really think coming back here has taken the life out of him lol.
Pokka had his best game of the 3 I have seen him in live. So thats a plus. Schilling still one of the best d-men.
Hino was fast. Baun was useless.

Has Fiddy heard the good news yet?

AHLs Rockford IceHogs recall defenseman Nick Mattson from ECHL’s Indy Fuel.

Roy Radke scored his 2nd hat-trick of the season last night.

He now has 14 points in 14 games (10g+4a).

On the juniors front..Roy Radke has 10 goals in 15 GP and 5 assists..so point a game pace and on pace for 45 goals....pretty good pick for how late we drafted him ....On the other hand 2nd rounder Graham Knott has fizzled ...at his lousy pace he will be far off what he put up last season..Win one, lose one..Can't hit a jackpot every time.

Jeremy Morin: Serial farter

http://www.theplayerstribune.com/brad-mills-the-bubble/

I recently secured a new job, a “real” job, and it’s a pretty strange feeling to know that I’ll be a rookie all over again. I’ll definitely miss a lot of things about hockey, but I won’t miss the crutches, I won’t miss the guillotine, and I definitely won’t miss being woken up on the bone-rattler bus at 5 a.m. because I’m choking on Jeremy Morin’s heinous farts. I always knew it was you, Mo. You’re gross.

We have a BEAU STARRETT sighting! Big Beau scores his first NCAA goal tonight in his 2nd collegiate game for Cornell....DYLAN SIKURA was the Hawks draftees star of the night though with 1g and 2a though his Northeastern squad lost 5-4 to B.U. ...He now leads Northeastern in scoring with 2g and 4a in 8GP...
John Hayden picked up an assist in a 2 -2 tie for his Yale squad...
Frederick Olafsson scored another goal for his Omaha-Nebraska team in their win tonight...He is having a good start to his Freshman year with now 3g and 3a in 9GP...
LUKE JOHNSON scores a goal for North Dakota but they lose to Wisconsin. AND ANTHONY LOUIS with 2 assists in a Miami 2-1 win tonight ..he now has 5 points in 9GP ..but all assists..We need goal scorers!
BTW....Where the heck is that pile of crap we drafted in round #1.

Nick Schmaltz...not exactly terrorizing college hockey...seems he has little ability to actually put pucks into the net...ugh!

I don't know if I should put this here or in the Bickell thread, but I was at the Hogs game last night, and if this description isn't enough to do the play justice, I don't know how else to explain it, so here it goes:
Hogs were two men short, with both Bickell and Pokka in the box. As Bickell's penalty expires, the Hogs get the puck. Bickell comes out of the box with the entire Milwaukee team in the Hogs zone. one of the Hogs players(I don't remember who it was, nobody important) shoots Bickell the puck, just outside the Milwaukee blue line. He has to catch it a little but the closest Milwaukee defenseman was at the Hogs blue line. The Milwaukee defenseman catches him and pokes the puck away before he could get to the top of the circles. It was the most incredible thing I had ever seen in AHL hockey. I didn't know a pro hockey player could be that slow.

If this play isn't proof that his knees are shot and he needs to be on LTIR I don't know what is. Bickell was the slowest skater the entire night. He looked like he didn't belong at the AHL level as a skater, let alone an NHL player. He is at ECHL or worse level as a skater right now.

I was at the game too...

I will vouch for the above summary... and add there were two beautiful set-ups cross ice (one from Hino and one from Rasmussen) and Bickell's fat butt couldn't make it to the weak side quick enough for tap ins...

He also fell down on shot (while being stick checked) and fell on guy for interference penalty (after a clean check)...

Lastly, I find it ironic that he is chose #44... (4 years at $4M)??? Maybe an intentional - ef you to the Hawks??? don't know if he is smart enough for that.

HF50- totally agree on Schmaltz (waste)... Fabbri would have been much better/safer pick!!!

Schmaltz is not a bad player and has insane vision. He was top 10 talent wise in that draft and still is. He just needs to learn to compete every shift. He's the number 1 C on the best team in college hockey and another blackhawks player (Luke Johnson) is the 2C. His hands are insane and he is getting his chances. He hit the post yesterday and the day before. While Fabbri is definitely the safer pick, Schmaltz has the higher upside and is doing fine.

I also think the Hawks wanted to take someone that was going to have a little longer development.
