What was his plus minus?

Schmaltz was +4 in Friday's game against Miami. He's leading UND in the plus minus category.

—--------------------

Nick scored the game-tying goal for North Dakota with 1:34 left in the 3rd period of the Saturday game against Miami. He ended up with 1G and 1A, +2 for the game.

Yep, definitely gonna be a bust. :sarcasm::laugh:

he also hit the post with a wicked wrister from the slot. great release on it. He has so much talent if he puts it together he's got top 6 potential. He also won an offensive zone draw to set up the first goal.

Not a fan of Schmaltz. I think he'll go the same route as Pirri.

He's infinitely more talented than Pirri is. That's not to say it's out of the question that he won't ultimately live up to what his talent is and disappoint; entirely possible, but I don't really get the Pirri parallel.

It's nice to see him turning things up a notch. I was looking for him to take a step forward and be a more dominating player in his sophomore year so maybe that's starting to happen a bit. We shall see.

I don't see him being as "infinitely" more talented. Pirri was over PPG his freshman year and was outstanding in the AHL. Pirri's issues ... such as lack of consistency and drive ... are the same ones Schmaltz has. Brock Boeser looks more impressive to me.

Obviously you are watching highlights and not full games. Boeser has been great but Schmaltz has been great as well. He's been super unlucky as well hitting posts left and right. His vision is great, hands great, good shot and release, plays decent Defense. Probably plays this whole year and gets a contract.

Wording is odd due to translation and my limited french but it appears that Phillip Danault might be back sooner rather than later? My hope would be that he would be full speed by mid January.

Rough translation

MONTREAL - Phillip Danault has obtained confirmation that he eagerly awaited a doctor in New York, Thursday noon.

The hope of the Chicago Blackhawks can consider a comeback a few weeks after hearing from the mouth of the renowned Dr. Bryan Kelly that he is fully recovered from the operation to his left hip he suffered in August.

Danault returned to Rockford, where American city evolves school team champions of the Stanley Cup, ready to turn the page on an injury that came his plans before the Blackhawks Training Camp.

Draft pick in June, a few days after the conquest Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville had entrusted Danault that would be offered an opportunity to graduate with the big club in September.

That was before Danault must resolve to have an operation because of a labral lesion of the left hip. He played through the pain for much of last season. It was during the summer it was found that the injury, far from curing, worsened.

"The decision was easy to make, he said. I am young, it was better to settle this right now. This is my last contract year. I did not miss too much time in the regular season. "

The center player aged 22, who was recalled for two NHL games last season, wants to quickly regain its place within the hierarchy of the organization's hopes.

Last season, we may see the skater rotates a third or fourth line in the NHL has accumulated record of 13 goals and 25 grants in 70 games. He added five points in eight games in the playoffs.

The first choice Blackhawks in 2011 (26th overall) took twice as hard during his rehabilitation period to forestall the anticipated date of return to playing almost a month. He was told after surgery that he would start to skate after four months. But instead he will return to the game.

"I know I would have had a chance to Blackhawks camp. But here I want to get back to 100 percent and focus on my performance and my team in Rockford. "

Native athlete Victoriaville in the Bois-Francs, will be pumped after living inside the Stanley Cup Blackhawks, as a member of the group of reservists of the team.

During the celebrations, he saw former Blackhawks star player Denis Savard come give him a warm embrace and whisper in his ear that one day it would be his turn to lift the cup.

"Coming from a great player like Denis Savard, it's been an honor to receive a similar comment, he said. It's very motivating. I was a few centimeters from the cut, but I have not touched. I lived the 'thrill' to rub guys. Now is my dream. I want to win the Stanley Cup. I want to play in the National League. I was drafted by the Blackhawks four years ago, it is with them that I want to fulfill my dream

I do.
Schmaltz has much more skill with the puck than Pirri has. Pirri has a great shot, which is probably his biggest asset, whereas Schmaltz can make those really nice plays in tight spots and has amazing vision (like a Panarin, Kane). That makes a world of difference in the NHL, where space is limited.

Pirri doesn't have much outside of his shot.

if you don't watch UND games, you can't comment on his game this year. He has been really really good. Nothing like Pirri, I agree.

I am not sure if you know this but that is how free speech work and how a few on this forum operate.:sarcasm:

He has been better this year BUT he needs to work on his d. Also scoring in college does not always translate for skill guys.

This.

Yes, he is infinitely more talented. That doesn't mean he'll be a better NHL player necessarily, but for me there is little debate on their talent comparisons. He's a better skater in every facet, has much better hands, much better playmaking ability and creativity and spinning off of those last two points, has an excellent ability to create space for himself with the puck and be elusive. His vision is phenomenal and he can finish in his own right.

I don't dislike Pirri at all and it isn't a slam on him, but Schmaltz is a much more talented hockey player.

you know what I meant:rant:;) more like you can comment, but if you don't watch the whole game and just highlights how can you comment with some worth? I watch literally every UND game because I used to live up there and he has been doing some great things lately. His defense needs some work, but he is suprisingly good at draws and having a righty C would be nice. and a few rare points in the game he'll get his head out of it, but his work ethic and drive has definitely improved at UND since the draft and said he picked that up watching guys like Max Domi at the WJC who never take a shift off and said he has been working hard at that.

Well I have not seen North Dakota play this year..Last year and at the World Juniors I was not impressed at all by Schmaltz who was often lazy and one-way and did not hustle..He also had a skewed assists to goals ratio on offense with no proof one the scouting report of a terrific shot...This year the assists to goals ratio looks ecen more skewed to the paucity of goals side..So is he just a playmaker type who cannot finish much? IT IS POSSIBLE as Stan Bowman indicated in a podcast recently that Schmaltz has concentrated this year on improving his defensive responsibilities..Going from rookie freshman to veteran sophomore you do expect improvement in certain areas and so I hope this is true because he has to be a 2 'way player to be in the nhl ..Whatever there is no doubt he and Senior Drake Caggiula have a dynamic together as a duo on a line with Schmaltz setting him up and Caggiula finishing with goals into the net...Caggiula is not big at 5'10 but a solid 185 and I liked what I saw of him last year..He will be a top college Ufa target this summer but I wonder if his success with Schmaltz could land Caggiula with us if Stan targets him and woos him with the chance to play immediately next season in Chicago with Schmaltz? THIS could only be a possibility IF Stan and our brass determine that Schmaltz has improved enough to leave school after his soph year (as did Toews from UND) and that may depend on whether we sign Caggiula ...Of their chemistry together can be duplicated in the NHL then maybe we get back to being an elite and deeper team next year..

Schmaltz with three more assists last night. Seems like he's finding his game

I have such a hockey crush on Caggiula and Stetcher too. I want the Hawks to sign Caggiula, Stetcher, Schmaltz and Johnson this offseason :yo:
