It should be instinctive to pull that shot back to the far post

you don't worry about that when you have a chance like that with a seemingly open net you get that puck off as quick as possible. people are acting like he shot the damn thing wide.

I don't see the point in being mad at Hank. I can't get mad at him for not saving a break away (unless he does something truly dumb). But it's certainly sad that the team hasn't been able to rely on him like they have in years past.

Which is ironic cause in the past he bailed out crap teams. This season, while we actually have a legit system and players, he's not as dominate.

This is the reason why most every goal looks amazing against us. If you throw 40 pucks at a goalie with no screens, directly into the chest. He's going to stop them all.

Some goalies tend to leave disgusting rebounds right outside the crease

lmao.... are you guys serious. Brass is not even thinking about where he is shooting on that play. when you get a chance like that in front it is more important to get of a quick shot than try and pick a ******* corner... 95% of the time that goes in. Great save..

This. :handclap:

And if he actually aimed at the far post and missed? We'd all go to NY and throw Brass off a building.

Why are we not allowed to be upset that Hank can't stop what he used to stop?

And where did I blame anyone but Richards? That goal was all on him. Horrendous. Selective reading, my friend.
Because, I repeat, did you even watch the goal? It was a high backhand underneath the crossbar. It doesn't matter who you have in net on a shot like that.

Or tell me, which goalie is so dead sure to stop that shot?

Anyone notice that players that have these "beginnings" trailers suck while they are running?

There's a difference betwenn saying it's difficult vs saying he should be absolved completely of blame. You and nevesis seem to be trying to give 100% of the credit to Niemi while robbing Brassard of the blame he most certainly earned. Ironically Nevesis is also arguing to remove 100% of the blame from Lundqvist. The bias is fairly transparent

Lundqvist didn't face 11 top chances either

Didn't say he did. I do think he faced more than four difficult shots though.

Agree to disagree. I saw the entire period. Every shot on goal.

And the shots being 20-11 mean NOTHING if the Sharks can generate just as much, if not more, when they're in our zone for 15-30 seconds at a time.

People keep looking at the shots on goal, as if we absolutely dominated the Sharks, but it was textbook defense outside of a few defensive breakdowns. In contrast, our defense was embarrassing on the penalty kill.

We will score a few goals when (a) we get better shots on goal and (b) someone besides a borderline 2nd line center / 3rd line center starts getting those shots.

I'm frankly sick and tired of not having an elite goal scorer on the team.

You can argue that Couture, who had the breakaway, is a better player than everyone on this team besides St. Louis.

Thornton, Pavelski, Couture, and Marleau are better than all of our forwards except for St. Louis (and we just got him).

The period was evident that we don't have elite finishers (and no, Nash isn't one of them) and we aren't getting the chances to finish.

Could we have beat Niemi once? Absolutely. He robbed Brassard. But best case scenario is this is a 1-1 game.

It is pretty fundamental... go watch any sniper in the league. You think they are taking the time to pick a corner on a play like that... No their head is down and they getting it off their stick as quick as possible.

This is an example of one team getting the territorial play but whenever it's the other way the other team gets a great chance. Throw out Corsi for this game.

You're not worrying, or thinking. It should be instinctive to shoot to the opposite of the net where there is no goalie.

We have two. Nash & St. Louis. Of course, once they step into NYC they forget how to score.

Yup, and ANY hockey player is doing what Brassard did. Bantam, High School, College, Juniors, Pro...
