The fans need someone to blame. So, it's Lundqvist, despite coming up with multiple big time saves in the period.

Somehow, I'm sure fans on here truly believe this is a 1-0 Rangers lead with Talbot in net. I'm just waiting for those posts to come LoL.

Hank deserves some of the blame on that play. Be mad at Hank but demand Richards be cut. You're acting like no one is demanding the latter and we're 100& blaming Hank. Way too many people were rationally explaining their frustration for you to post this

This is the type of game where Nash needs to earn his f%^king keep!! How is he not tired of being upstaged by two manlets and a fourth line for crying out loud.

Can we be happy that we just outplayed one of the best teams in the league for a period. Yea we are down a goal but if we keep it up we will score a goal.

lmao.... are you guys serious. Brass is not even thinking about where he is shooting on that play. when you get a chance like that in front it is more important to get of a quick shot than try and pick a ******* corner... 95% of the time that goes in. Great save..

He hasn't had to make any amazing saves. Look, why can't he stop a breakaway anymore, man? He's been terrible on them all year after killing it on breakaways for years. You really think his play has been anything more than mediocre?
Because it was textbook how you score on a breakaway? He lifted it really high on net with the backhand. Which our players manage once every 15th game or so. If Hank would've saved that, it would've been highlight reel robbery.

It's ridiculous how so many of you completely ignore how the play actually went down, you're just pouting over that they scored, not how they scored.

San Jose with numerous quality chances on our own PP and you pout over Hank? Incredible.

It was a horrible shot. Niemi was to the left and he shot back to the left. The only thing good about the shot was how quickly he got it off.

Umm, you might want to watch the play again. I assume you have a DVR. He didn't shoot to the left, Niemi made the pad with his left leg, which is the RIGHT side of the goal.

That shot was fine, he shot it immediately off the pass, Niemi ****ing robbed him.

Hahaha he shot it right at his pad. Had half the net wide open and shot it to the left when he had the entire right side wide open. Goal scorers score there every single time. Check the replay

is the ice really bad tonight?

we're falling Down like toy soliders out there....

Of course it's bad. The basketball court has been on top of it for three days.

The ice caused the short-handed goal, but it's so much easier to blame Richards (because he has to know a pass is just going to bounce over Zuke's stick) or Hank (because he has to stop everything).

I don't see the point in being mad at Hank. I can't get mad at him for not saving a break away (unless he does something truly dumb). But it's certainly sad that the team hasn't been able to rely on him like they have in years past.

People can nitpick scoring chances. Can anyone provide Lundqvists non-shootout breakaway numbers from this year compared to the last few years?

Curious.

Whoever said Niemi is average is a dumbass. Niemi is one of the best in the league. Better than Lundvquist(this year) for sure.

Thanks.

Niemi is average. He's not a top 5 goalie, and not consistently a top 10
His stats on an elite team only speak for it.

And the second part is exactly what I'm mad about. The guy that's supposed to be the best in the world is getting outplayed by guys that aren't the best

Exactly, and he had an open net. Niemi just robbed him. Great scoring chance though.

It doesn't help that it is BRASSARD getting the chance. He is a 3rd liner. If we had an elite player get that shot, that other teams actually have (such as Perry, Ovechkin, Kessel, etc.) that puck is in the net.

We have too many blue collar players who have no idea how to finish the play.

Brassard has had a mixed bag of a season, great the last two months (bad stretch of seven games right now) and a horrible start.

We need an elite player who can put the puck in the net.

I thought we got that in St. Louis, but he's been the opposite of that so far for us.

What a great save, Brass did what you are supposed to do on a play like that, get it off quick. 95% of the time that puck goes in, you don't try and pick corners on a play like that. Overall great period, if we are up by one people would be going on about how we are generating so many chances rather than our lack of finish.

The opposing goalies aren't as great as everyone thinks they are, its that the Rangers just aren't that GOOD. The QUALITY of our shots, while high in volume, or LOW in quality.

This is the reason why most every goal looks amazing against us. If you throw 40 pucks at a goalie with no screens, directly into the chest. He's going to stop them all.

That's true today, not true usually. They usually outchance the other team and get good chances just can't finish on easy opportunities. Today, most of the shots were cupcakes.

Why are we not allowed to be upset that Hank can't stop what he used to stop?

And where did I blame anyone but Richards? That goal was all on him. Horrendous. Selective reading, my friend.

Shots and quality shots are two different things.

I'd rather see the Rangers get 10 shots on goal with 5 high quality shots.

Than 21 shots on goal and 4 high quality shots (which, for the most part, is literally what we had).

Lundqvist didn't face 11 top chances either

It should be instinctive to pull that shot back to the far post

No, it'd be nice to see Lundqvist stop that.

But, I can't blame him for getting beat by one of the Sharks best players on a great move that beats every goaltender in the NHL nine out of ten times.

Blame the Rangers for making 16 of their 20 shots easy on Niemi.

Rick already held onto a puck and made an effort to keep it for more than 2 seconds, drawing a penalty in the process!

I think thats enough effort for him today

Lol, somelone wants to say that Niemi is top? Cmon, we all know he isnt.

Its different thing when Niemi have match of the season agains Rangers. But no, he is not top.

That doesn't get you two points.
