Interesting quote by Henrik. After you lose three in a row you need to show that desperation in the first, not the third. He once again said it was too easy for the opposition to generate top notch scoring chances.

Team wasnt desperate at puck drop. Is that the players or coaching staff?
We've seen this group work hard.

I think they were poorly prepared in preseason.

They're practically just ending camp now because nobody played.

I think they’re just what everyone should have expected them to be - a lottery team that is going to struggle now that the games are real, and the competition has full lineups in place.

The concept of this team finishing potentially with another top ten pick was almost universally agreed upon a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, this what a team finishing in the top 10 looks like.

None of this represents an undiscovered country, no matter how miserable the landscape.

I think they're a sub 40% possession team. Nobody is that bad.

You know, Byfield would look mighty nice challenging for a second line center spot.

The chances of the NYR getting a crack at that pick might be closer to reality than some might think.

Quinn just explained that Strome started that PP bc the top line was too tired

Even under the best of circumstances I’ve always felt this season was closer to landing a top pick than a playoff berth.

Having said that, just when people start to adjust their expectations is when this team will likely get hot. It will then manage to infuriate the crowd eyeing a high pick, and eventually the people who get pumped back up again by the dream of making the playoffs.

I want to see

Panarin — Zibanejad — Kakko
Kreider — Chytil — Buchnevich
Lemieux — Andersson — Fast
McKegg — Strome — Smith

Overload the first line.
Second line has talent asides from Kreider shooting into the chest protector.

Bottom 6 would be a nice forechecking line.

That’s the best I can think of

I think Buch just maybe more comfortable in a lesser role. Seems to elevate his game in the middle 6 of the lineup.

I’d sincerely start Kakko with 10 and 93 and put a Kreider Chytil Buchnevich line together. Play these guys in their proper positions.

Strome looks good at 3C with Fast and Lemieux.

I’d put Howden on the top line in Hartford and I mean for a while. He can learn a lot down there for the game he’s going to eventually play.
Maybe it's me....but I don't see Chytil being called up any sooner than Anderson become 2C.

It’s a rebuild. Gotta have more patience.

I can be patient with most of what's going on but I don't have patience for the common sense type stuff isn't addressed and becoming an ongoing issue.

A lot of that starts with DQ

Haley played 5 minutes. Who cares if he plays? I'd rather have Haley in the lineup playing 5 mins/game than McKegg in the lineup playing 10 minutes.

The absolute most obvious difference between the first two periods and the third was how much more committed the Rangers were to defending and actually closing gaps on the Canucks. They finally took their space away and that generated a heck of a lot of chances. Rangers need to go back and remind themesleves of how they won the first two games. They were relentless on the puck and need to get back to that game. The third period showed they can be that team but they need to start showing that for a full 60!
In their two wins, Rangers played nowhere near the level they played in the 3rd.
