First two periods they just looked like an over coached/over practiced team with everyone second guessing themselves, looking around for their marks of where to be on the ice, no instincts or feel for the game and no real sense of reading the puck and making plays.
3rd period looked like everyone just decided to stop overthinking it and play a simple aggressive game. They attacked the puck harder, supported each other better by doing so, forechecked better and got better chances...
Basically I felt going into the third down 1-3 that if they had a good third period then it would be a "win" even if they didn't actually win the game. give them something to build on. I'm happy with the result in that way and happy with how everyone seemed to decide to just be aggressive on the puck. Sure you can sometimes be over aggressive but I think all successful teams these days aggressively attack teh puck carrier and the Rangers did much better when they started that.
Like I said, hopefully it's the start of a more even and complete game rather than trying to turn it on at the end, but hopefully it gives the players a little confidence to be able to go into a game and play a little more by instinct and play fast, rather than looking like they're terrified of being in the wrong spot and always looking for their positioning.
Even Skjei looked a lot better in the third and lol he had a sequence early on where for some unknown reason he backed all the way into his goalie when defending a rush and gave the guy 15 feet to shoot with. I assume he for some reason thought he needed to protect from a cross crease pass but that was the most hilarious/pathetic stuff
