The only way this trade happens is if Bedard pulls a Lindros and refuses to play for the team with the 1st pick. Even then the team could potentially get more than what is being offered from St. Louis

Brian Lee
Ryan Parent
Tukka Rask
Matt Pelech
Vladimir Mihalik

Yakupov
for
Trouba
Teravainen

Pearson
I make the first and last.

Thompson, Serg for Matthews - Matthews isn't worth those two.

Yakupov - I'd take just Teravainen but sure throw in Pearson

I'm taking McDavid.

Crosby

Vs

Ryan
Johnson
Pouliot
Price
Brule

I'm taking Crosby.

Bedard isn't McDavid and Michkov isn't Eichel, Marner, Strome, Hanifin or Zacha

Alternatively it could be Hischier or Patrick, Heiskanen, Makar, Pettesson and Glass or Lafreniere or

Raymond-Stutzle-Byfield
Sanderson-Drysdale

the only people that would vote against the picks would have to be Blues fans that know this trade isn't close

I'm taking McDavid.

Ok sure, you could also have selected;

Eichel
Marner
Meier
Rantanen
Hintz

Etc

I also don’t get why so many people are posting responses like yours. Each draft class is different potential wise, it’s not equivalent at all.

This draft is a very strong one. It’s worth taking the picks imo.

The discussion shifted from what op posted to phenom #1 vs next 5 picks.

Hence the phenom #1 vs next 5 picks examples...

It's not phenom #1 vs the top 5 remaining players in retrospect.

Tougher question: would you choose Bedard over having the next five first overall picks? So, for example, are you taking Crosby or are you taking Stamkos, Tavares, Eric Johnson, Talylor Hall, and Patrick Kane?

As for the OPs question, no chance I’m trading him for five first round picks with some in the teens and twenties. Not a chance.

How is this a tougher question?

With this draft you probably take the picks but what team has picks #2-#6?

Then again, the OP is offering: 9th, 18th, 21st, 26th & 30th.

Not sure how Vrana & Parayko gets them those two earlier picks.

Offer him a max comp contract when he‘s done his ELC, where the compensation is only four 1 st round draft pix. :)

You people are overrating bedard. If it was 5 picks in the top 10 of this draft I’ll take the picks every time no question. One player doesn’t win championships boys! Look at the oilers

Michkov, Fantilli, Reinbacher, Carlsson, and benson > bedard any day

Michkov may even be better than bedard right now for Christ sake
You smokin rocks or something? Michkov next Ovechkin? Better than Bedard? Lmao.

Even if the picks were much higher. You go with Bedard.

With only 1 pick in the top 17 picks and zero in the top 8 this really was an extremely easy poll.

IMO the picks would need to all be in the top 15 with 2 or 3 in the top 5 -7 range to even consider.

The aforementioned package of 5 picks would be nice to a rebuilding team but a generational talent like Bedard is worth so much more on and off the ice.

That would be a decent package to get a number 1 overall in many other years though. Just not when there is a Bedard, McDavid, Matthews or even Stamkos, Kane and Tavares like player at the top.

There is always a deal but unlikely this year ...
Would.be an extreme overpayment and cripple the other team for a decade ..

1rst overall
For
3 first in 23
First in 24
First in 25
2nd in 24
2nd in 25
3rd in 26
4th in 24
Grade A prospect x 2
Grade x 2
Valuable roster player x 2
Exactly it would take something very similar to this to even get the ball rolling. Seeing as whoever gets him has to outbid 30 other teams. I am sure there are a few GM / Owners who would offer this without even thinking twice.

Have you been living under a rock? Go look up michkov kiddo
I have watched him son, he is a good player, no where close to Bedard and absolutely no where close to Ovechkin at the same age. Would be shocked if he is picked second.

I remember hearing a story about The Islanders offering all their picks in the 2012 draft to the Oilers for the #1 pick so they could take Yakupov....as it turns out only the Isles d-man Adam Pelech turned out for the Isles in that draft so I'm not sure either team has been a big winner? :dunno:
