Brady will not only make his linemates better, but...he will make the whole damn team better. He will make the fans better. He will make ottawa grea... better.

Which consensus is that? Matthew is better than Brady and has outproduced him by a large margin when playing at the same levels.

I shouldn't have used the word consensus but there are definitely people out there who think Brady will be better than Matthew. Besides, it's not really fair to compare their numbers. Didn't Matthew play with Matthews and Roslovic and then Marner in London?

those people see that Brady is bigger and faster and that's all they take to conclude that he must obviously be better.

Their hockey iq isn't close.

im not talking about goalscorers.

I'm talking about dynamic players who can consistently be game changers when they hit the ice. I'm talking about players that the opposite team has to draw game plans around because of the way they can control the puck and create opportunities for themselves and their teammates.

Brady Tkachuk is a complimentary player.

If you don't like the pick, that's fine, but it's way too early to be throwing out labels like 'complimentary player' until we see how Brady develops. Premiere powerforwards are the hardest type of player to acquire in an organization, that's just a fact. The impact that a player like that can have is beyond 'complimentary', and you'll see that during a playoff series.

You say that based on the dozens of games you’ve seen of both players, internet scout?

and Dvorak .. Anyway .. look don't bother arguing.. there is absolutely no point.. These people have been shitting on him the entire pre-draft season. I have said it before you either like what Brady brings as a package which is not highlighted by stats or you don't .. Look at Hoffman .. what a 60 ish point guy.. Well let me tell ya this right now , if Tkachuk can score 60 points he is going to make Hoffman look sick (and not in a good way) as a complete player and he is going to do one hell of a lot more for his line mates and the team. The ""I want skill" detractors will respond ... Oh he won't score 60 points like they actually fn know.

To be honest I'm more just sad we dropped from #2 and Svechnikov. That would have been our new franchise player. Tkachuk could be a nice guy to have in the top 6 but I doubt he'll be able to carry a line.

A bit concerned also about our speed in the future top 6 with Stone, Brown and Tkachuk. Game seems to be moving more in that direction than size.

Edit: but on the bright side he seems like a player with intensity and intangibles to go along with a pretty good skill level. So he's a good addition to any team.

Tkachuk looks plenty fast for a big frame. Should not be an issue.

Brady needs to be one of those guys that helps us win at the right price. Highly effective but not highly flashy. That's my hope here.

They still have some speedsters in Duchene, Dzingel, Batherson, Formenton, Chlapik, Gagne & I imagine they could add more this yr.

True, but the only player I'm confident will be in our top 6 from that list is Duchene (obviously). Fingers crossed on Batherson. The others are probably middle six at best.

Super, super optimistic outlook though would be that Brown and Tkachuk become a poor man's Getzlaf and Perry style combo. It would take quite a lot of development from both of them though.

Nothing about how he plays. Nothing about how effective he is , how consistent , how he makes room, He also led the team and all rookies with 131 shots ... his shooting % was brutal.. not because he doesn't have a good shot.. 5 more points he would have led his team in scoring . it doesn't provide very much information in other words
His shooting % is brutal because his shot is poor.

If he's having trouble beating NCAA goalies, how do you see him being able to beat NHL netminders?

He has been a complimentary player at every level he has played at for the last few years. So he isn't going to step into the NHL and become a line driver all of a sudden.

and LMAO premiere power forwards aren't the hardest to acquire stop fetishzing the play style.

Dynamic #1 centers and and defenceman are the hardest to acquire.
