It tells you he scored 8 goals
Nothing about how he plays. Nothing about how effective he is , how consistent , how he makes room, He also led the team and all rookies with 131 shots ... his shooting % was brutal.. not because he doesn't have a good shot.. 5 more points he would have led his team in scoring . it doesn't provide very much information in other words

Too close to Ottawa and Montreal
Pissed we passed on Zadina, but not surprised. Tkachuk will be an nhl player. Top 9 guy for sure. Top 6 I hope. I see him more as a second line player. Maybe on a line with Brown one day? Interesting to see how much offence he can bring.

Just punch Matthews in the face, ok Brady?

From a member of the fan base that rejoiced in Neil concussing Drury, this is not surprising.

He has never scored a lot of goals in his entire career.

So Brady turns 19 in September. The consensus seems to be that he's better than his brother. I know that development isn't linear, but Matthew had 48 and 49 points in his first two seasons. If Brady plays with Ottawa this season, I have a very hard time seeing him put up those numbers.
His body type is a little different than Matthew as well. I think He is behind Matthew .. I think Matthew had the good fortune to play with some pretty slick offensive talent and develop that side of his game quicker

Which consensus is that? Matthew is better than Brady and has outproduced him by a large margin when playing at the same levels.

If we were drafting a Mathew Tkachuk player i would actually be ecstatic.

But Brady isn't Matthew and Brady certainly isn't as good as Matthew.

Matthew has crazy high hockey IQ, vision, creativity and ability to be threat every time he hits the ice. Brady on the other hand is good at those things but not on the same level.

They are going to continue the trend of the Nylander's and Staals where the younger brothers stock was increased because of the comparisons to the older.

Brady has Matthew Tkachuks agitation but not his skill/mental game.

Stat watching never gets you anywhere... ever. That’s why the Sens scouts didn’t pick the guy who scored 44 goals.

He also played with Auston Matthews for a fair number of those seasons.

I’m no fan of Brady Tkachuk but he hasn’t been given the same kind of opportunities.

He had to play behind Shane Bowers last season.

I think 50/50 .. If they can convince him to stick and possibly start the year in the AHL ... I think he'll play. If not I think he goes back to BU... or opts for London. Either one of those is a good choice if he isn't staying this year. I think for Brady its more important to continue developing against bigger stronger players for the way he plays .. pushing aroung 16/17 y/o in the CHL isn't going to do much except pad the stats.
I dunno, hard to argue with the results the Knights get churning out NHL talent...Dale Hunter teaches guys to play the right way, and he might be what Brady needs to evolve his skill from raw to honed...just my IMO.

If EK gets moved, I just hope we don’t force this kid into the lineup prematurely.

Brady will not only make his linemates better, but...he will make the whole damn team better. He will make the fans better. He will make ottawa grea... better.
Not really joking either. The guy will make everything better. Just unbuckle and grab a soda.

I think you're underselling the effect that a premiere powerforward has on the game. They're just as crucial as the goalscorers. Most Stanley Cup winning rosters have had one, it's a good recipe for playoff success. I also think you're underselling Tkachuk by lumping him with Bowers/Lazar/White. Tkachuk has legit skill, his playmaking and dangles looks high-end from the videos I've seen.

Again, we need a goalscorer, but that's easier to acquire than a premiere powerforward.

im not talking about goalscorers.

I'm talking about dynamic players who can consistently be game changers when they hit the ice. I'm talking about players that the opposite team has to draw game plans around because of the way they can control the puck and create opportunities for themselves and their teammates.

Brady Tkachuk is a complimentary player.
