Dorion's comments lead me to believe the plan is to convince Tkachuk to sign a contract with the Sens, try to make the team in training camp, and probably play on the team next season.

If he were to sign with us and we didn't want to keep him with the big club beyond a 9 game stint, he could go play with Formenton for London, as they hold his rights.

Could , depends how close they feel he is.. certainly an option though

Hot definitely original take:

I think he's gonna be a good player.

I think Zadina is gonna be the better player.

I still worry who's actually gonna score goals for this team.

Now on Tkachuk, he floor is Curtis Lazar, thats the worst case. Theres no getting around it. Best case he is like his brother and can pot 30 goals, while being an ultimate agitator.
I think he finds a place in the middle. 20 some odd goals, being a net front presence (thats where he is gonna score the majority of them. in tight.)

8 goals in 40 games concerns me.

Tkachuk is only 2 months younger than Bowers, has a physical advantage but still couldn't outscore Bowers and somehow manages to be picked in the top 5.

if his name was joe schmoe he'd have gone around 15 and thats whats most annoying about this.

I think his floor is closer to Nick Foligno (minus his two career years). Basically a 30-40 point guy. He is already better than Lazar, who may not even be an NHL player. Tkachuk is ready to be a solid 3rd liner, maybe more, and he has a ton of growing and filling-out to do. Even if he really doesn't progress and he just gets stronger, he'll still be a solid player (although obviously no progress would be a huge disappointment).

His name helps him get picked higher because it’s a factor easing his path to reaching his ceiling...

We were 7-th to last in scoring goals for last season and so far we addressed this by trading away best goal scorer (for obvious reasons) and then drafting "character guy" while best scorer of the draft was still on the board.

if he turns out as a 3rd liner or 4th liner his fans will still sing his praises because "powerforwards are so rare"

LOL now i know your not serious.

If this kid turns into a 4th liner, the fans will litterally run him out of town. If we blew the highest pick we've had since 2002 on a 4th liner, the fans will litteraly revolt.

Those kind of players are a dime a dozen. Not 4th overall worthy.

Your kidding yourself if you think this kid has 0 bust factor.

Sure, anyone can bust, but busting isn't a guys potential floor, unless you're saying that everyone's floor is busting, in which case I'd have to agree.

I think you were talking about a development floor rather than busting were you not?

People gonna idolize Tkachuk when he slams down Matthews then skates the puck back the other way and scores an absolutely greasy goal.

This will be Tkachuk lol

His hockey IQ makes him a star. The rest of his skills are underwhelming.

Glad he's on the team, but people act like he's one of the best players in the league.

Lol
one of the best sticks in the league. we all know about his takeaways
Has a nice, accurate wrist shot
Great vision and playmaking
can play physical and drives the net hard

Besides skating what is underwhelming?

I'm glad to see that most people are happy with the team's performance today. We're never going to see the entire board happy about anything, but it's just nice to see most people liking the picks, some respecting them at least. Hell, several posters are even banding together in SUPPORT of a Sens player!

Miraculous!

And we have a 2nd to look forward to tomorrow as well :)

those people see that Brady is bigger and faster and that's all they take to conclude that he must obviously be better.

Their hockey iq isn't close.

Ahhh yes, the vaunted hockey IQ. Please, explain hockey IQ for me. We all know Chris Kelly has it. So why wasn't he an offensive dynamo? How about Bergeron?
