Post-Game Talk: #46 Rangers @ Panthers

I thought they played great in their own zone and the neutral zone but flat out terrible in the offensive zone.

How many of their shots were legitimate scoring chances? Markstrom barely had to move. Terrible showing offensively.

Just an unacceptable game from Hank. Horrendous. There is no reason we should have lost that game. He needs to step it the **** up because he's been bad his last two games.

He's the only reason they are even trying to fail their way in to the playoffs.

Yup let's just **** all over Henrik, when are you going to start praising the underachieving losers on this team? I could use another laugh.

All i see is you *****ing about Hank, Regularly.

The team didn't play badly but really how well did Markstrom have to play? I can't recall us putting all that much pressure on him.

Didn't you hear? Markstrom played amazingly!

Him and every other sub-.900 goalie we've ever faced.

We did outplay them badly. The only people that feel we didn't are the people that complain every single ****ing game. Win or lose. We badly, badly outplayed this team and we got straight up out-goaltended.

Hank has played games this year where he's played well, and he's been outplayed. That doesn't mean he was bad. The Rangers have run into goalies that have played out of their freakin' minds.

Had the Rangers gotten a few bounces tonight, they win this game EASILY.

It happens, where pucks just get under a stick, deflect strangely, bounce off a skate, etc. Tonight was just plain BAD LUCK. Don't even think Markstrom played all that great. Just bad luck, which can happen against a team that's getting seriously outplayed, but gets a break here or there.

Fine. Markstrom is a god and will win 5 Vezina's. Better?

I complain every single game? Sorry for not being all rosy and happy about this team.

Florida is the worst team in the league, and missing half its roster. We beat them up 6-1 a week ago. Their last game was a 3-0 loss to the Bruins, who were coming of a 4 game losing streak. Yeah, great team.

Yeah. You complain every game and you bring the discussion down. You and a small group of other people. Someone has to say it because no one points out who it is and we just get a garbage GDT every freaking game.

Give some damn credit to the other team sometimes. The funny thing is, the only player on the other team that needs credit is Markstrom. We BADLY outplayed them the entire game. Badly. He played out of his mind and had a hell of a game against us.

Don't sit here and rant and rave like this team played terribly. That's just not true. If the shot totals and dominating play were the other way around and we lost 3-2? Yeah. Then you can complain that we played a terrible game. But this team came out, outplayed the Panthers, and lost because the other goalie made the saves he had to while our goalie played like he was on Ambien.

typical rangers let down loss to the worst team in the league

callahan must have grabbed one of boyles sticks from the rack because he was horrendous offensively

richards didnt need to go all out on that play, guy breakin in is an ahl scrub and whoever the defenseman was was right next to him and in good position to drive him outside, no need to reach in that far and dive to poke it

torts ****ed us out of another win, absolutely no need to add a 6th guy to our atrocious powerplay, just adds another guy for richards to force passes upon

I still believe that penalty was a valid call, but I thought exactly the same thing on that play. What Florida had at that second did not look supremely dangerous.

Markstrom was elite that game? Really? I saw a team that dominated in puck possession but did very little with it. Rarely testing Markstrom and not getting the 2nd and 3rd chances that lead to goals. Shot totals =/= quality scoring chances. Despite puck possession the offense did not create scoring chances period. Most of their shots were easy saves.

How do I expect it? Because he makes that save plenty of times. Hank was asleep this entire game because the team gave him no work. You honestly think he had no chance on the first goal? Really? Our Vezina winning goaltender?

That's a bunch of crap, man.

And I love the fact how you write "He let in two ****ing goals tonight" like it's an accomplishment. HE LET IN TWO GOALS ON TEN SHOTS!! That's a .800 save percentage!

It was deflected and he was screened by four players. Four. I'm okay with him not saving that.

Sign me up for a goalie that gives up two goals/60, which Lundqvist has done for two straight years now.

That was a game of inept offense, of forced passes, of terrible decision making. I have many more problems with our captain tonight than I do our goalie.

I get that Markstrom has a lot of potential and skill but nothing about either tonight's game nor our previous 6,000 shot onslaught against him impressed me.

We played a very NJ Devils-ish game tonight. **** load of low quality shots.

He's the only reason they are even trying to fail their way in to the playoffs.

Yup let's just **** all over Henrik, when are you going to start praising the underachieving losers on this team? I could use another laugh.

That's not what he said. He just said he has not played well the last two games (I'm not taking a side). How he's done in other games leading up to this has absolutely nothing to do with his statement.

Holy crap. I'm seriously pissed about this game, very fricken angry. But some of you guys are ridiculous. Enough with the cliff jumping. Saying you're done with the Rangers and you want them to not make the playoffs? Come on, we're all fans here. We all get upset when they let us down, but you can't give up on it.

That being said, I was very angry with the performance. They played down to the Panthers' level tonight, they let the Panthers dictate the pace of play. Cally was a logo sniper tonight and also seemed to play pretty uninspired--not what I like to see from the captain.

Want to know how they played? They played like a team who KNEW they were playing the worst team in the league tonight. They can talk about treating all opponents equally all they want, but it was clearly a night where they underestimated their opponent. That led to an uninspired performance with extremely sloppy play.

Concerned with Nash and Cally tonight. Both didn't look good. Hank made two amazing saves in the 3rd but aside from that he looked off. I know we all want to defend him no matter what, but the fact that those goals were deflections does not make them unstoppable. 9/10 Hank stops both of those deflections. I think his performance had a lot to do with seeing such little action, it's very hard to get a rhythm going when you're seeing no shots.

That being said, the Rangers' fate is still in their own hands. Win 1 of last 2 games and we're in. I guess I'm the weird one here, but I'll be rooting for them to make the playoffs no matter how they get in.

You can't write this off as bad puck luck. There is something missing with this team. We have a good collection of talent but they don't play like a team and they don't play for the coach.

Must win against worst in league for a playoff spot and you lose.

Taking 2 pts from a Carolina team that's won 2 in row, playing their last home game of the season & hoping the Jets lose at home vs the Tire Fire that is the Montreal Canadiens. Jeezus.

This is going down to the Devils game. Ugh.

it seams like whenever we play a goalie with a sub .900 save % we are determined to help them get up to .900

I never said he's bad every time he's outplayed. He was bad tonight because he had no work and couldn't make the saves he was required to.

Just my opinion, but we win that game with Biron in net. Hank was absolutely asleep.

You act as if every team including the Hawks/Pens plays a full 60 minute effort, every game of the season.

Its unrealistic. As bad as the Panthers are, they still are a NHL team capable of putting together good shifts. When you play the opposing team as we did tonight you win the majority of the time. This **** happens.

Are you kidding me with this?

The Rangers had a chance to clinch, they SHOULD be playing the full 60 minutes.

40 minute effort - I'm having Ron Low flashbacks.

Half of our shots tonight were logo snipes. That's a big problem.

Also, to the people STILL ******** on Richards, you should bite your tongue after tonight. Richards and Zuccs were the two best Rangers on the ice tonight.

I said it before; Fundamental discrepancies

You clearly have a problem understanding what other people say as that is not what I said at all in my post.

Maybe I should just post a bunch of :laugh:s in my post to make a point

We stunk and I'm not gonna give Florida any credit. Well, I'll give their 3rd line credit. They outplayed our top players and it can't happen. I couldn't be more disgusted and disappointed with the way our top guys played, the way we handled ourselves through it. That team was ripe to be beat.

We sucked at a time we can't suck. We have to get it straightened out.

That's not an "and" that's an "or".

We win we're in. Doesn't matter what the Jets do. And if the Jets lose we're in. No more scoreboard watching. We moved to ground zero with the Jets loss tonight.

Meh. I'm not the biggest fan and I never was. We'll see. I could see a game like this being a big confidence builder for him. Being on Florida, I'm sure, doesn't help.

I never thought he was the next Lundqvist like a lot of people seemed to, but you can't deny the upside there. Question is if he can put it all together mentally, as it always seems to be for goalies.

Rebound control, too. That was Bobrovsky's big problem last year.
