Post-Game Talk: #46 Rangers @ Panthers

rofl! What's worse is I now have that godawful What Is Love song stuck in my head. Damn you!

Markstrom did not play well. We flubbed shots into his 890 square foot chest. Didn't make him move at all.

Glad to see that he was so happy today. Enjoy the golf course, you *****.

Callahan starting to get Dubinskynitis. Where you start to think you are better than you are, and start playing differently because of it. Rather than playing the way that made you successful in the first place.

I rarely get on Lundqvist, but tonight, I just thought he could have made those saves. Thinking it over, the team did play well enough tonight to win, IMO. They weren't great, but they were a LOT better than the Panthers, and the puck was bouncing all over the place. The Panthers mustered up 1, maybe 2 good chances. When the team plays THAT well in their own end, their goaltender needs to step it up and make those saves. Especially the best goaltender in the league.

Yep.

Good goalies make tough saves. Everyone on here always goes ZOMG HE COULDN'T HAVE SAVED THAT. But guess what? Last year he did. He has in the past. Tonight? He was putrid. The team basically gave him the entire night off and he **** the bed.

lol. shot from the point deflected 2 feet down right in front of him. he certainly didnt have time to react to a deflection so im not sure what ur asking of him.

It's not like he hasn't stopped deflections and shots from point blank range. It's been a flaw of his for a while now. How many times have you seen this team create offensive pressure for minutes at a time, prevent any offensive chances, and the other team breaks through, gets off 1 shot and it goes in?

It's like if he isn't saving a shot, he collects rust.

Hey a 40 minute effort... a lot easier than 60

You act as if every team including the Hawks/Pens plays a full 60 minute effort, every game of the season.

Its unrealistic. As bad as the Panthers are, they still are a NHL team capable of putting together good shifts. When you play the opposing team as we did tonight you win the majority of the time. This **** happens.

Winnipeg beats Montreal on Thursday. We lose to Carolina and head into the Jersey game needing two points to get in. Game goes into the shootout 2-2, and Jersey wins it in the shootout thereby knocking us out of the playoffs by virtue of ROW loss to WPG. Anyone wanna bet me?

Nightmares of Jokinen dance in everyones head.

I hate this board around Rangers. When they win they are like God. When they lose you can read 34534534539 pages of comments how everybody sucks.
Stick to this team till the end if you are a rangers fan.!!

Who is leaving?

Seriously. I see this comment all the time. Get off the high horse.

We are all pissed after a ******** loss. We will all be here thursday also.

better teams lose to younger teams all the time, the young team plays with spirit and gets good goaltending and wham, you have a win.

I thought we outplayed them pretty badly to be totally honest.

We did outplay them badly. The only people that feel we didn't are the people that complain every single ****ing game. Win or lose. We badly, badly outplayed this team and we got straight up out-goaltended.

Exactly. In the last two years we have went from having the ability to appropriately criticize Hank to not being able to criticize him unless we are a hater. I assume it's the influx of new posters, but whatever. It's now obnoxious. Hank had a piss ****ing poor game. Awful for his standards. The team did what it should have had to to win and Hank let them down.

On the other end, Markstrom straight up played like an elite goalie. I wonder if this is the time he begins to step out and do something or if it's another one-off.

How do you expect him to stop a shot that gets deflected with 4 people screening him? I don't understand your logic here Jonathan. I'll give you the second goal, I'm sure Hank wants that back (even though it was another deflection and he was screened), but that first goal was not being stopped.

He let in two ****ing goals tonight, and the Rangers couldn't score three against the worst team in the NHL. There's your problem, not the goalie who lets in two because his defense can't get out of the ****ing way.

The only time they generated anything was using their speed. So of course Kreider never got a chance to get out there and of course he never got a chance with anyone other than scrubs. Anyone else notice when he would've had a breakaway if Powe hadn't ****ing ignored him rather than throwing it up the ice?

Girardi continues to get powerplay time. Kreider hasn't gotten a fair shot yet. And Torts decides to give the Panthers free shots at the empty net. Brilliant.

Markstrom is still pretty young, especially for a goalie. He still has some things to work on, like rebound control, but I think he should be a top goalie pretty soon. For a guy who is his size, he moves well in the nets, and his size also allows him to see through screens and stop point shots.

We completely outplayed them but couldn't bury our chances. I'm gonna be biting my nails until 7 pm Thursday, which is going to be HUGE.

The Canes aren't lying down either, they beat NYI tonight.
Unfortunately, with the Jets playing at HOME against a shaky MTL team, I think they take that game.
So it's gonna be up to us to win 1 of the next 2...

LOL. OK, dude. You're one of the people that complains every single game. Your bias is laughable. Markstrom played great. You can't even give credit when it's due to the other team. Just blame the Rangers.

He doesn't move at all in net. He doesn't have to.

doesnt help we suck at clutch situations either.

Meh. I'm not the biggest fan and I never was. We'll see. I could see a game like this being a big confidence builder for him. Being on Florida, I'm sure, doesn't help.

I know you're just stating fact but -- Oh, good. I love relying on other teams being bad enough for us to make it to the playoffs. Rather than fighting for a more favorable 6/7 seed... :shakehead

It's always good to have options...Jets lose out..We win...we get two overtime losses..other than seeding (which might not change either way) there's no difference.

I disagree. I thought most of the Ranger shots were harmless. There were only a few really good chances, 2 by Zuccarello, but nothing overly threatening. It's not like Florida did either, but they made good on their chances and the Rangers did not.

And to Florida fans reading this thread (if any), Markstrom played a solid game and earned that W.

All i see is you *****ing about Hank, Regularly.

The team didn't play badly but really how well did Markstrom have to play? I can't recall us putting all that much pressure on him.

How do I expect it? Because he makes that save plenty of times. Hank was asleep this entire game because the team gave him no work. You honestly think he had no chance on the first goal? Really? Our Vezina winning goaltender?

That's a bunch of crap, man.

And I love the fact how you write "He let in two ****ing goals tonight" like it's an accomplishment. HE LET IN TWO GOALS ON TEN SHOTS!! That's a .800 save percentage!

Fine. Markstrom is a god and will win 5 Vezina's. Better?

I complain every single game? Sorry for not being all rosy and happy about this team.

Florida is the worst team in the league, and missing half its roster. We beat them up 6-1 a week ago. Their last game was a 3-0 loss to the Bruins, who were coming of a 4 game losing streak. Yeah, great team.

This is one of those games where we on HF care more than the Rangers did. Too many of those games this year, and there should be none at this juncture.
