Post-Game Talk: #46 Rangers @ Panthers

You can't write this off as bad puck luck. There is something missing with this team. We have a good collection of talent but they don't play like a team and they don't play for the coach.

Must win against worst in league for a playoff spot and you lose.

You know we're only expected to win this game around 70% of the time right? That means you still lose pretty often.

Half of our shots tonight were logo snipes. That's a big problem.

Also, to the people STILL ******** on Richards, you should bite your tongue after tonight. Richards and Zuccs were the two best Rangers on the ice tonight.

Moore impressed me more than Richards. Richards took a dumb penalty.

Does it matter if they make the playoffs? Even if they do, it won't be as anything but the 8th seed and Pittsburgh would mop the floor with them.

We did outplay them badly. The only people that feel we didn't are the people that complain every single ****ing game. Win or lose. We badly, badly outplayed this team and we got straight up out-goaltended.

I thought the Panthers did a great job of keeping guys out of the slot and forcing the Rangers to take mostly poor quality shots.

vCash rich!

figured they'd play like this. reason we lost this game was our defense minus moore. taking random shots on net.

girardi needs to be removed from the first unit. he shoots at the least opportune times. he'd be better with the 2nd unit that can catch those rebounds.

I never thought he was the next Lundqvist like a lot of people seemed to, but you can't deny the upside there. Question is if he can put it all together mentally, as it always seems to be for goalies.

Rebound control, too. That was Bobrovsky's big problem last year.

Well, I never thought he had Lundqvist upside. Every good Swedish goalie apparently has that these days. I did think he'd be better than he currently is, though.

We outplay them and you all are still acting like we lost 6-0. We win this game like 5-2 if we shoot at anything other than Markstrom's chest.

Outplaying them has nothing to do with it. Win this game and they're in the ****ING PLAYOFFS. Against the worst team in the league.

this is why the Playoffs are no sure bet.

this team shows up at the most inopportune times.

geez, the PO were there for the taking and this is what you present?

Kind of like how you ***** about Hank constantly?

The Rangers scored one goal before that pathetic attempt to tie things up in the last minute. Please explain to me how they "did everything they could to win" yet it was Henrik's fault?

It goes beyond just tonight and the only person who has been fairly consistent and good almost every night is Henrik. The rest of this team has played like garbage for stretches, and tonight is yet another perfect example of the same awful inability to capitalize that we have seen all year.

Your assessment of this team's problem is so terrible.

To play MTL who has owned us for 4 straight years? At least we have held our own against the Pens/Bruins.

Boston has a game in hand on MTL and an arguably easier schedule. I'm anticipating Boston stays in 2nd. Of the possible top 3 teams, I'd rather play, in order: BOS>WSH>PIT>MTL.

If you weren't expect making the playoffs to go down to the wire, you're rooting for the wrong team. If there's an easy way to success, this organization always finds a way to avoid it.

We're still in a great position to make the playoffs. What sucks the most, IMO, is the fact that we could have gotten a grip on that 6th seed.

The King with a solid 8 saves on 10 shots from the worst team in the NHL.

I'm curious as to how Lundqvist played below his standards, considering his GAA is above 2 and he allowed 2 tonight.

Markstrom barely did anything, it's just the rangers have terrible shooting accuracy.

Cut out this **** you guys about losing the next 2 just to see Torts fired.

Are you guys stupid? Lets just make it in the playoffs and see what happens...If we dont make it, its time to assess Torts afterwards and see if he needs to come back.

and PLEASE FIRE THAT GARBAGE MIKE SULLIVAN

Holy crap. I'm seriously pissed about this game, very fricken angry. But some of you guys are ridiculous. Enough with the cliff jumping. Saying you're done with the Rangers and you want them to not make the playoffs? Come on, we're all fans here. We all get upset when they let us down, but you can't give up on it.

That being said, I was very angry with the performance. They played down to the Panthers' level tonight, they let the Panthers dictate the pace of play. Cally was a logo sniper tonight and also seemed to play pretty uninspired--not what I like to see from the captain.

Want to know how they played? They played like a team who KNEW they were playing the worst team in the league tonight. They can talk about treating all opponents equally all they want, but it was clearly a night where they underestimated their opponent. That led to an uninspired performance with extremely sloppy play.

Concerned with Nash and Cally tonight. Both didn't look good. Hank made two amazing saves in the 3rd but aside from that he looked off. I know we all want to defend him no matter what, but the fact that those goals were deflections does not make them unstoppable. 9/10 Hank stops both of those deflections. I think his performance had a lot to do with seeing such little action, it's very hard to get a rhythm going when you're seeing no shots.

That being said, the Rangers' fate is still in their own hands. Win 1 of last 2 games and we're in. I guess I'm the weird one here, but I'll be rooting for them to make the playoffs no matter how they get in.

Agree 10000%. I'm also worried about Nash. Sometimes I get the feeling that he forgets he has solid linemates. Pretty worried right now.

As long as we don't get the 8th seed I'd be pretty content.

its not about just making the playoffs, we gotta avoid the 8 seed, which is why this was such a killer loss. pens will beat us in 4 or 5.

Right. I complain about Hank constantly.

I'm one of the few people that will call him out when he lets bad goals. Our discussions have devolved into ONLY praising him. Wasn't like that a couple of years ago when we had actual, non-biased discussions on the guy and could actually criticize him when it was due. Take a wild guess why I and a number of other long time posters no longer post in the GDTs. It's not because it's good discussion.

But continue to think that the problems are all with the Rangers every loss. We badly outplayed the Panthers and lost. There was no excuse for that loss. But of course it's all on the Rangers. This team can do no right.
