well that's my point. EVERYONE sucks at 5v5. The team as a whole sucks. No one creates anything. No passing. No puck support. No puck movement. No getting open. No doing the dirty work. EVERYTHING IS BAD. that's an issue.

All Gallant did tonight by playing Geo and sending Reaves out there every other friggin shift is destroy Geo's trade value and prove to the rest of us how we need depth players. The idea that the team is not trying is what's ridiculous. The effort is very likely the same as it would have been. But the goalie makes a different. Shesty is the best goalie in the entire world. Georgiev can barely hold his jockstrap. And you seem to think it would have made no difference in terms of the game plan or outcome.

Shesterkin also doesn't give up rebounds like he's made of f***ing rubber and he helps to clear the puck out and up to his forwards numerous times a game. For a hard forechecking team that is absolutely key.

Again, I really think this is indicative of roster construction more than Gallant. We've been winning with smoke & mirrors. Our team skating is atrocious. We certainly have enough grit, however.

Tried of blaming the same guys for not showing up. I'm blaming the kids. They straight up suck. If any of them even played up reasonable expectations most had for them it would alleviate so much pressure from the rest of the squad.

They need to show up, but they need the opportunity to do so. Chytil and Laf have played about 8 minutes each. Kakko has played just over 9. None of them has been on the ice for ANY of the five goals against. Only Kreider and Zib can claim the same. Do we all want to see more from them? Yeah, but we're losing this game because of Hunt, the defense, the second and fourth lines, and--mostly--because of Gallant. He's been largely very good as a coach, but this kind of top-down collapse is on the coaching. Pinning it on a group of kids who have barely played and haven't been on for a goal against is just silly.

You can't put the onus on the kids when no one is good 5v5. The entire team is an embarrassment 5v5. We could switch teams and it'd be the same outcome.

I don't even think it's that. This team is just rotten culturally. They've changed everything to the same results.

the best players are the same for years, the style of play the same for years, the 'system' has been both times the last two coaches bending to his best players (theoretically what you're supposed to do) and them preferring to be pretty and not imposing themselves of their will or doing uncomfortable things.

they just don't wanna. nothing changes till that changes.
